July 7, 200916 yr There is an issue with both pmdg airplanes in fsx where they cannot handle turbulance properly. This happens to no other addon airplanes, pmdg airplanes make s turns and cannot stay on track with weather from active sky advanced. The only solution is to turn off turbulence effects, which is quite a downer. I realize you are busy with other projects, but please pmdg, keep supporting your most popular and best products!

PMDG refers to HiFi and vice versa. But who's left between the chairs is me, the customer. Both side's statements may make sense but I can only judge from my humble position which is that only the PMDG planes, both the B747 and MD11, show the weird phenomenon and neither the LDS767 nor the CS757 I own - let alone the stock FSX aircraft. Any acknowledgement would be greatly appreciated. As well as a combined effort by both sides to issue a work around/fix for eliminating these s turns.BestPhil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
July 7, 200916 yr Seems fsx and pmdg plus weather are a mixture of problems - I use asa with fscuip with fsx and most of the time it works quite well for me. True I can't have much turbulence but suits me.I used a stock prop plane with asa and fsx and nearly fell out the sky... only to be told to turn on the carb heat... bit of a job in the king air lol so I've more or less given up using asa with the GA planes.I only see the wind variance in the ND of the pmdg planes though and with it altering around 180 degrees every half second it does play havoc. All I'll say is if it's pmdg's fault then how come I can do a flight from EGLL to KLAX and only have 2 five minute sessions of S-turns? Surely it would be all the time!!!In fs9 it's perfect for me but fsx is another matter... but then fsx has a more detailed aero model so maybe that. All I know is both sides blame eschother and as Phil says, we are left in the middle.John Ellison
July 7, 200916 yr Is this where the windspeed at altitude jumps up and the jet's throttles spike up and down to compensate?
July 7, 200916 yr I use ASX but I think it's not different regarding this problem. Together with FSUIPC I have no problems with PMDG MD-11.
July 7, 200916 yr Pieter...FSUIPC ... payware or the free version, I had read that only the full payware version smooths this winds aloft problem out.
July 7, 200916 yr I have the registered version of fsuipc and the only fix I was able to find was to check the box to suppress turbulence. I enable wind smoothing in asa, and fsuipc, but still get the s-turns.
July 7, 200916 yr In registered version you can set how many degrees and knots the wind changes per second or how many seconds it should take for 1 degree/knot change.Say I set that to 1 degree per 2 seconds. So, if ASA commands a wind shift of 10 deg this will be smoothend to a 20 seconds change instead of a sudden change. So no sudden changes anymore. Maybe a little raw, but it makes flying a lot easier.BTW: I never get S turns, only if I set time compression too high, but that has nothing to do with ASA.
July 8, 200916 yr even setting it to 2 deg a second I still got the s-turns. Had to check the box to suppress turbulence
July 8, 200916 yr Where are the PMDG people to answer these concerns??? I had another issue (which I was somehow able to resolve on my own) where my brakes didn't work - I brought it forward last week in this forum and also got no response from PMDG. This is a great piece of software but the wind issue is a major concern yet there is "0" responses from them - were not asking for updates on new product, were asking to resolve significant issues on existing product. When I purchased the MD-11 it was not indicated that I would need to pay for additional payware software to make asv6.5 work. I use ASV6.5 with my other complex payware aircraft with no problems whatsoever.Mike Mike Normandeau Montreal, Canada
July 8, 200916 yr Please use email to contact pmdg support directly. IMHO (I am not a PMDG rep) the problem is not with either ASV6 or PMDG but the inadequate wx engine in FS9/FS10. Everyone else in the simm community is trying to come up with ways to fix it. Dan Downs KCRP
July 8, 200916 yr I also fly the Level-D 767 with no wind spike issues...I'm just looking for a response from them to a problem many are having. I don't think everyone emailing them is the right approach - if this is the official forum, then there should be a sticky thread updating the progress they are having in repairing this. No reply and no official communications just adds to the frustration. Mike Normandeau Montreal, Canada
July 8, 200916 yr If you have a problem you should email them. Posting in the forum seems to get other users to respond with similar problems and solutions but if you want PMDG to respond to you, email them.RegardsRichie Richie Walsh
July 8, 200916 yr Commercial Member Guys, I don't know the answer - I know Vangelis and Damian from HiFi were talking at one point about the issue, but I don't know what came of it. I'll try to research it and post back... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 8, 200916 yr Sorry Richie, I don't agree. Thanks Ryan, appreciate it.Mike Mike Normandeau Montreal, Canada
