August 6, 200916 yr Instead of putting a final end to further development of Flight Simulator, I just wonder why Microsoft didn't offer to license their code to a reputable developer. What good or value is all the code just sitting there locked up collecting dust somewhere? In doing so MS could have continued to make money, a developer could have made a few bucks, we could have gotten a few fixes or an updated and improved product. All the framework was there. I guess it's more complicated than that ... :(
August 6, 200916 yr I just wonder why Microsoft didn't offer to license their code to a reputable developer.Don't be silly!! :( That would be good for the community and common sense. :( Carl Hudson Intel i3 550 @ 4.20GHZ on Air with Arctic Freezer Pro 7 / Arctic Silver 5 - 4Gb Corsair XMS 3 - GIgabyte H55M-UD2H Motherboard - Asus GeForce GTX280OC 1Gb
August 6, 200916 yr Well, we do still have an internal group that is going to use the existing code base, so it's not exactly sitting around collecting dust, but I have no idea what exactly that group is going to create from the code :-> If MS had been interested in licensing the entertainment product's code the existing team would have snatched up the rights (and the question was asked back in January) :->Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
August 6, 200916 yr Tim, thanks for providing your usual insider information. :-> as you would say :)
August 6, 200916 yr I remember just before the announcment one of the devs claimed they had found new optimisations that were going to be used in FS11 and train simulator 2. It all looked very promising until....................!I hope the version that Aerosoft are working on will have more optimisation then FSX.
August 6, 200916 yr All i'm hoping is that one day FS can use a quad core CPU efficiently, so clock speed would not be as important as now.....it really sucks for people using prebuild PC and the manufacturer lock the BIOS for overclocking( I still can't think of a good reason for manufacturer to do this...) when i got my computer i did not think of playing FSX... and i just went for the shortcut to buy a prebuild. Well...no matter what this is the last prebuild i'll ever buy..well no matter who makes the next FS software, if it does not come with a full quad core support i'll be very disappointed... August 6, 200916 yr I wonder when MS will tell us, their loyal customers, exactly what ideas they have brewing FS wise?

It was written by someone on the inside that had seen the lastest version on MS ESP and said that it was running very well, much better than FSX currently and they also mentioned some of the enhancements to be placed in FS11 if they remained as planned. I asked on here about a month ago if someone remembered the post and what forum (here, somewhere else?) but on one recalled it. Glad to see I wasnt the only one. August 6, 200916 yr A.....it really sucks for people using prebuild PC and the manufacturer lock the BIOS for overclocking( I still can't think of a good reason for manufacturer to do this...)It's very simple. They would get complaints from people who overclocked andn then found some applications wouldn't work or, even worse, had damaged the processor, Gerry Howard

August 6, 200916 yr Moderator what's the difference between a loyal customer and an ordinary customer and how does Microsoft tell them apart?the loyal customer buys the product and the ordinary customer pirates it and complains that it doesn't work properly. :( RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

August 7, 200916 yr what's the difference between a loyal customer and an ordinary customer and how does Microsoft tell them apart?Dear Gerry,Any marketing (not sales) person will tell you that there is such a thing as brand loyalty. It's characterized by repeat customers. (That is, Gerry, people who make repeat purchases. So while the concept may be difficult for you to grasp, loyal customers are repeat customers.)How does Microsoft distinguish between ordinary customers and loyal customers?Answer, they run statistical samples. They do focus groups all the time with both prospective and actual customers for both existing and proposed products. That's how they tell them apart, Gerry.Love and kisses,MikeP.S.No, I haven't read your closing remarks in the other thread. I'm giving you the last word here too and once again I'm not going to read your closing remarks ... Because giving you the last word appears to be the only way to avoid going around in circles with you.
