August 10, 200916 yr Hi folks!I was just wondering which virtual cockpit is the most frame killer? Thanks a lot!
August 10, 200916 yr That is totally dependent on your system...From your sig, I would guess that you have the two aircraft... so why don't you do your own comparison? :( Andrew Andrew Entwistle
August 10, 200916 yr Yes, i have both of them. The problem is that I have a very modest configuration: P4 3.0ghz, 1.5gb ram, 9500GT 512mb. I can run the 737 and the 747 in virtual cockpit. But, i can't do the same with the MD11 which is quite amazing because i know that PMDG products always improve... So, I just wanted to know whether i have some problem or not. Thanks for the fast reply ;)

So, I just wanted to know whether i have some problem or not. Thanks for the fast reply ;)I started beta testing the MD11 with a P4 3GHz 2Gb RAM 256Mb card (old Dell XPS Gen4) and the MD11 VC panel was stunning. My upgrade was due to a dead Dell, not that I wanted to spend money on what I got now... which cost one third of that Dell by putting it together myself. Anyway, I found the MD11 is solid on the P4. August 10, 200916 yr On my system with FS9 the 747 is more frame hungry than the MD-11 when it comes to the V/C's; They both run well though. Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com

August 11, 200916 yr Can this happen because of some new features included in the release version??The release candidate performed better than the early betas... sorry. You might see improvements if you try the tips normally offered for increase frame rates such as excluding antivirus, defragging, etc. The MSFS forum is chock full of discussions on this topic. Given further information, people here can then step in and provide appropriate help. Knowing his system specs now, some can address that...Please excuse my sniggering, but it is best not to adopt the role of Internet policeman... leave that to the moderators, they do a good enough job...Andrew Andrew Entwistle

I just felt that your response to the OP's questions served little to no purpose at all. If there wasn't enough information provided, you could've just moved on without your "flippant" response. I'm just making the point that sadly, lately - the tone of this forum is becoming less and less friendly and helpful. Secondly, I'm well aware that there are AVSIM moderators - I'm not trying to steal their job, but it's everyone's right on this forum to comment on other members remarks, and all I was doing was exercising that privilege, as you did with your response. Like I said before - if you feel that the OP didn't offer enough information up-front, then there was no reason to waste your time posting a response that did absolutely nothing to answer his question.Blake Blake Williams

August 11, 200916 yr Both of you, please stop it. I am not here to see people fighting to the death...I have the 747 in FS 9 and FSX and the MD11 just in FSX,and I would say that the MD11 does give better FPS overall, which to date seems to be most people's experience. Are you disabling the F/O's instruments, which is an option to provide better frame rates?.Also, I don't know what other addons you have. You may have to adjust your sliders, and try using FPS limiter, which is a freebie utility.Ron Ron Service .
August 12, 200916 yr On my system, there isn't a lot of difference in performance. I will tell you why I like the MD-11 so much though:1. PMDG really did a great job with the FS shortcuts for fueling, arming the cabin doors and I really like the pushback which is something I miss on the 744. As a matter of fact, this is the only payware aircraft to my knowledge that does this. You have to setup a key combination for pushback on the 744(PMDG veterans please correct me if I am wrong)I hope they include those features in the FMC on their next aircraft. 2. The MD-11 FMC just makes more sense to me, and it seems easier to use and it also will import FS flightplan data. Currently I have to convert 744 flightplans from flightsimX to a different file format. 3. The MD-11 VC seems really crisp and everything is very easy to read. The engine sounds are also a little better IMHO than the 744.Now, this is just my opinion and I do like the 744 a lot and it is worth every penny. I haven't been a PMDG customer for very long but I believe that the MD-11 was released after the 744 so it seems reasonable that it would have had their newest technology incorporated into the product along with their latest greatest performance enhancements. Either way, I doubt either aircraft will impact performance to the point to where it makes any difference when you are at FL320 in the sim. Scott KGPI
August 12, 200916 yr Not to be picky, but the 744 has a pushback gauge on the center console that works with mouse clicks. Or is that what you meant? Dan Downs KCRP
