ASA SP1 Cloud popping.

There are a lot of issues with the weather engines internally in both versions of the sim which will never be rectified though some of the annoyances could be reduced.
Yes, you're probably right there. I tend to be a bit more optimistic though and hope that someday some will be able to eliminate the cloud popping issue I have in FS9.1

Have you seen this fix for popping clouds:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24830
MichalThanks, but that appears to be an FSX fix. Our problem in this thread is with FS9.1. Do you think the same thing would work in FS9.1? Please excuse my computer illiteracy ;-)Dzieki jeszcze raz za pomoc.Pozdrawiam.

If I can chime in here. I fly FS9 sp1 here in the USA. I experiance the same problem with clouds poping in and out, misty one moment and clear the next. I too am very frustrated with ASA. Yesterday I totally uninstalled it and and reinstalled it with just the base install and the latest sp. Rebuilt my fsuipc cfg. Did a flt from LOWW to EDDW. Clouds popped in and out the whole flt at 370. I was in mist 1 sec and then clear the next. I also can tell when ASA is processing wx in FS9, because everything almost comes to a crawl.I hope there's a simple fix here.Bill M

To be fair, I must say that apart from the cloud popping, I have no other problems with ASA on FS9 and think that it looks great. I don't think there is a simple fix because, if I understand correctly, Hi-Fi Sim cannot replicate this issue.

I agree it looks great when it's displaying weather as it should. But my issue is getting it to stay that way.Bill M

I must say that I finally got a desent flt last night with ASA, I flew form LEMG to LEPA using wilco CRJ. There was no crazy wind shifting or cloud popping. If it could stay that way, I would be a happy man.Bill M :(

The wind issue was fixed for me ages ago and has never happened since. So, did you change anything in ASA or FS?

I change nothing in FS9. I however setup my FS9 ASA cfg flie to what Jim had posted earlier in this thread. I'll keep my fingers crossed and try some more flts.Bill M

Let us know how it goes. I did the same thing with my ASA cfg, but unfortunately it made no difference.

Just for the record. I've got the same cloud-popping prob here. I'm using FS9.1.Haven't figured any solution yet. I hope so much there will be one.

System specs: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz; 16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 802MHz; 8 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (NVIDIA)

Well I completed another flt from EGLL-LEMD using the new ES Citation X 2.0. Cloud popping returned along with wind speed and direction changes every few minutes. I think I'll go back to the 6.5 version for FS9 until things get figured out.Bill M

Yes I find the same thing Bill. I have a few good flights and then it goes back to its old cloud poppin' ways. However, I do think ASA depicts better looking weather that ASv6.5 so I'm sticking with it in FS9.Iain Smith

How can ASA it depict weather better when it constantly changes from one thing to another. I tried another flt from KCVG to KFLL and ASA really sucked during the whole flt.Bill M

I said "better looking weather" Bill and what I meant by that was, for example, cloudy conditions look more realistic than they did in ASv6.5. However, I agree that clouds suddenly disappearing and re-appearing spoils the realism somewhat. :( Iain Smith
