August 18, 200916 yr Hi Guys,I'm browsing around for a decent payware jetliner, I'd like one for long haul routes and the other for local routes, I prefer Boeings but Airbus would do too. I see that PMDG put out 747 for a greedy $80.00, that's a ridiculous amount of money for a FS add-on, imo of course. There's no way I'll shell out that much. Are there any 737's, 777's or 47's available that you would recommend? Jacek G. August 18, 200916 yr Level-D 767Super 80 ProWilco Airbus Volume 1 & 2Captain Sim 757CLS 747CLS AirbusI own those and they are great products in their own ways. I do also own the PMDG 747 & MD-11, they are expensive but I must say they are worth it. The amount of detail and hard work that went into them is amazing. Christopher Edwards

August 18, 200916 yr Author Wilco Airbus Volume 1 & 2Are you satisfied with Airbus 1 series? I'm really tempted. How's the FSX performance at add-on airports and so on? Jacek G. August 18, 200916 yr I say skip the Wilco Airbus series and wait for the AirSimmer Airbus. Anyway, if you want correct working systems, AirSimmer is the way to go. August 18, 200916 yr Author So PMDG's 747X is expensive but how does it perform in VC in a payware airport like ORD with WOAI with a clocked i7 920 for example? Jacek G. August 18, 200916 yr I can't make heads or tails of that airsimmer site. Looks to me like their A320 family has been near completion for well over a year now and seems perpetually about to be released? I also can't see if they are making an fs9 or fsx version and if they are coming out at the same time or different times. I just get a bad feeling about this product based on the quality of their website and the lack of information about it. I've been wanting to get into learning to fly heavies myself but don't want to get captain sim'd on my first realistic purchase.

It has screenshots, a very long posts detailing some stuff... I say it's worth the small trouble of registering.About the FSX version: it's still a long way off. The FS9 version is indeed scheduled for release firs, and after that they will work on what they call "phase 2". It will include more cockpit call-outs of co-pilot and that sort of thing. Phase 3 is the FSX version, and will be a better visual model, but the systems will remain the same. Honestly though, just register at the forum and you'll find all the info you require (except a release date, but manuals and the like will be released two weeks before the release date). Oh, and he price will be about 90 dollars if I remember correctly. That sounds like a lot, which it is, but believe me, it is PMDG quality, if not better! August 18, 200916 yr Stuff from PMDG and Level D is probably the top of the tree in terms of realistic simulation of long haul airliners for FSX.For less complex incarnations (but still good fun) you could try CLS, who make a 747-200/300 and an Airbus A340, or Aerosim, who make a Boeing 777. You might also want to browse the Wilco Publishing website and the Just Flight website for some other contenders such as a 747-200, 777 and various Airbuses, although as noted by others, there is an airbus on the way from Airsimmer which is looking like it is going to be the best Airbus you can find if we are to believe the hype.If you want to keep you hand in your pocket, you might also try the freeware I-Fly Boeing 747-400, which is not quite up there with PMDG's payware one, but it is free and not far off it in terms of capability and systems simulation. Captain Sim have recently produced a Boeing 767 to match their 757, although it's not without some glitches, so Caveat Emptor as they say, and read some reviews. Ariane Design make a long haul Boeing 737-900ER for FSX, but again, watch out for some possible issues (notably a potential 24 hour wait for the product to be activated) and read my review which was published on AVSIM last month to clue you up about it and what it has and has not got.Beyond these there are the fancy long range business jets from the likes of Eaglesoft and Wilco, notably the Cessna Citation X, which is good for high speed trips of fairly long range, since it has a 50,000 foot service ceiling and can travel at Mach 0.91.As with everything, read the reviews before committing to pressing that 'buy now' button - the AVSIM review section is your best friend in such matters.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

August 18, 200916 yr That $90 pricetag is for the FS9 and FSX versions. That might make the pain a little easier to bear if you run both sims.
August 18, 200916 yr ... or Aerosim, who make a Boeing 777...Speaking of Aerosim, they mostly make FS2004 stuff, although they have been switching over to FSX. If you are into Classic Liners, like the Tristar, I really recommend Aerosim's Tristar. It's originally for FS2004 and while I don't promise anything, it might work in FSX too. Don't expect complex systems, for the overall complexity of the simulation isn't that mich greater than the default aircraft, BUT it has a very nice, well-working FMS. I wrote a review about it, but it has not been published yet. if this looks interesting to you, keep your eye on the news page. I was told it should be published soon.
