PMDG Devs really missed the boat

Featured Replies

Reading through the posts here the last couple of days makes it clear PMDG really screwed the pooch with this release. SOOOOO many people with blown engines. The amount of money PMDG has lost due to lack of foresight is astounding.Had they been smart, they would have added a tiny bit of code that would deactivate the J41 product every time an engine is blown up / melted. A message box would appear letting the customer know where they could purchase a new engine for a measly $2 which, in turn, would re-activate the product. Rebuilt engines could be purchased for the bargain basement price of $.50 (but are time limited). Re-built engines are the perfect purchase for those who are becoming accustomed to the smell of burning oil.Given the massive increase in demand for these "hot" engines, certainly no one could complain when they found a 15% "demand tax" was added to all engine purchases for the first month after release. For this simple, yet brilliant revenue adding idea, I am only asking for a modest percentage of the engine profits (negotiable - contact me at [email protected]), plus one real-life J41 (with new engines, NOT rebuilt - not negotiable). In all seriousness though, fantastic job on this new plane guys. I've completed 4 full flights now, with nary a problem. That is a real feat for any FSX product, much less one as complicated as a PMDG. Only thing I thing that could make it a better plane for me is a 2D panel.Steven Letcher

NOW we're talking.I suggest charging for refuels too.Plus, fs2crew could get on the boat by requiring customers to pay the FO a salary. Via them, of course. The possibilities are endless!

Hah! I came in here expecting a rant about how the J41 was not developed for FS9. Well played, sir!

i wonder how many engines have been destroyed in real life due to theses errors? any actual J41 pilots here have a horror story or 2 to share?

Gosh, if we had thought of this, we would have put an extra engine on the tail!

I'd guess not many, engine management is obviously a very major componet of the training regimen for this aircraft... doubt many actual professional pilots would mess it up to the point of torching an engine.

Lol, I could just see it...us having to enter a credit card number into the FMC before startup!

Oooh I could only imagine how much that would have cost me.Well done Steven, I was ready to bite as well! The JS41 is brilliant, even got up at 05:00 (on Labour Day) to have a flight before the rest of the house woke up... even skipped the coffee. Nice job on the manuals and tutorial PMDG.

You know you guys think this is a laughing matter, but they still havent released the J41 advanced tutorial and it's been like 4 days. I dont see how they can stay in business when they cant even keep the deadlines that I impose on them. Noah B.

You do realized that additional fees being added could really ###### of the customers. And by that, PMDG customers will drop a significant amount and can do harm to business. So about the Plus $2 for a failure engine is really just bull ######. Just like saying you have to pay $0.50 for color word on the forums, assuming they don't have the options.-Vincent
