FS 9 Weather issue

Featured Replies

First of all I am groovy and I have an addiction to FS9. I meet with it almost on a nightly basis and I cannot seem to break the habit. My wife is an F/A and she provides me with refreshments during my flight.Quoting a long-time pun...Long time lurker, first time poster. I am usually good at figuring things out myself or looking through forums to find solutions to my problems, but to no avail, I have had no luck.My issue is that when I start a flight, I use the real weather with updates option. For the last 3 weeks, I try to download the weather from Jeppesen, the weather loads, FS updates, but the weather has NOT changed. For the last three weeks I have a low pressure off of California, High pressure over the Pacific North West, Low Pressure over the Great Lakes, Two High Pressures over Europe with Thunder Storms over Paris.I have tried to delete the fs9.cfg and this did not help. I have My Traffic 2006, PMDG 737NG, PMDG 747-400, CLS Airbus Long Haul, Wilco Airbus 1, 2, and the Embraer EJETs, Level-D 767, and the Ultimate Terrain Europe, Canada and Alaska and US. I have looked for situations involving those third party add-ons that could affect the weather but could not find anything. Is there something that I have overlooked?THanksGK

Hello and welcome GK! As a fellow FS addict I would strongly suggest the Active Sky program. IMHO it beats MSFS weather no contest,.... very accurate, and with sky and cloud customizing abilities. Also as side note, I've never needed but their product support is very good. Now for the real reason I'm posting; How have you managed to train your F/A? Mine just ignores the aircraft and F/O completely!Mel

You're not the first to have come up against the problem and personally I would try and rectify it before buying alternative software because you may still have whatever hiccup exists affecting that too.I'm sure someone will remember the solution and publish it here, but meanwhile it might be worth starting FS with the default flight at KSEA. If you have saved your own flight as the default, you may have saved the weather with it.John

I appreciate the responses! John, my wife is actually an F/A and works with the airlines so I get to do a lot of "real" flying and she is trained really well :( . It is kind of funny when she has a group of her fellow employees/ friends over, I start up FS and hit the attendant call button on really loud volume. I have never seen a group of people suddenly looked confused before. I usually hold up my empty beer to let one of them know I need a refill.Mel, KSEA is the default airport for me. I only change airports when I create a flight plan. Like I said this is really puzzling!

. . . and make your default flight with the Clear Weather theme. It initializes FS weather before you load a saved flight or create one. My default flight is the parked baron cold and dark.

GK:try loading the FS weather theme of 'clear'. or similar named. this should reset the weather data. then load 'real weather.'--

You could try FSMetar had a similar problem as yourself. Wasn't ready to get Active Sky so found a freeware solution. http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/web/fsmetar/

You need to eliminate all the (old) WX files saved in the FS flight folder. Then, clear" all wx" from fsuipc (I thought everyone had fsuipc). Active Sky is your best option for wx.db.

Activesky has never been down since I bought it. I never fly without it. One time my internet connection was down due to a car hitting the pole. Activesky has saved and made up weather solutions but I did not fly if I could not have my Real weather download. GET Activesky and you will never have this problem. Its worth it.Carl Perry

Great Community, thanks for all the respones!Tried clear weather then reloading and that did not work.Tried clearing the weather in fsuipc and that did not work. Will try removing .wx files from flight folder. On the topic of active sky, does this product eliminate the sudden (or random) wind shifts that fs9's weather produces? Thanks again!!!

HiyaI gave what you suggested below ago and it didn't work. I'm using a unregistered version of FSUIPC so for now I think FSMetar will do the job for me, I've given up on FS9's real weather.

I am using a unregistered version of FSUIPC with ActiveSky 6.5 and it works great. You need a fast internet connection and you will not have those sudden shifts. The slower the connection the more you will see shifts even with ActiveSky. As I said earlier this program is so accurate I sometimes use it for weather reports and to see what is happening on the other side of town before traveling there in the car.Carl Perry
