September 18, 200916 yr Hey, Les! :( Anyone thinks: Anyone know why brakes stop working on landing roll out?Hydraulics problems? Are your Hydraulic Pumps in the HIGH position and the Auxiliary/Transfer Pumps - ON?Also (though I know the problem only theoretically) if you brake too early and too agressively, you will get hot brakes. As a result their effectiveness will be highly reduced. Watch the brakes temp (FO panel) not to overheat them!Does this bird have auto-brakes as an option when landing?Yes, the Pro version does. They will disconnect on landing after you apply toebrakes with more than 25% of pressure.Just like in the real world.

I just read on Leonardo's site that the autobrakes are only included with the pro version (I thought I bought the 'Pro' version :( )... October 13, 200916 yr Maddog 2008 pro is the best MD-8x simulation in world . Use it in type rating aircraft
October 15, 200916 yr Please don't tell me that this is anywhere near PMDG quality:It used to be state of the art back in 2006 and FS9. It's somewhere near the quality of the FS9 PMDG 737, but nowhere near their 747, MD-11 or JS41. But as all others have said, it truly is the best MD80 simulation available, and this comes from a self-confessed VC junkie. The coolsky has an even worse VC, and apart from the training module it's also very basic system simulation compared to the Leonardo Maddog."Please don't tell me that this is anywhere near PMDG quality:" IT IS AND MORE... :( This post slipped by me and now I just had to comment since this thread resurfaced... The screenshot here does no justice to this product. I can hands down say the VC and everything else about this add-on is right up there with PMDG's products or any other high end product we have in this community. It officially beats out the PMDG 737 that's currently offered and that's only because of it's age. The Maddog 2008 package in many areas surpasses all other add-ons with the exception of Level-D's 767 and PMDG's MD11. I actually enjoy this add-on more that most of my other high end airliners because it's a short hauler. Leonardo's bird to me is actually the best of the best for simple things like full throttle causing an engine flame out if your not careful, precise starting requirements, precise autobrake functionality that prevents total loss of brakes using normal FS methods we use with other add-ons, and handling/sounds that are second to none (this is only naming a few, the bottom line is you have to think when using this add-on or things will fail like total loss of brakes). My only complaint is the darkness of the VC even with the dome light but do to my time restraints I can get into this bird quicker than the long haul flights of the 767, 744, and MD11 (unless we're talking cargo flights) so this one's a true winner. Again the VC is spot on when you see it in the actual sim.... October 16, 200916 yr To everyone who thinks seriously about buying and flying Leonardo's Maddog.I highly recommend downloading and watching (with pausing and rewinding) these videos.Thery are in Full HD and represent all phases of an MD-82 flight (SAS from EKCH to EDDL).1. Startup and taxi in Copenhagen: 2. Takeoff and climb: 3. Descent and approach to Dusseldorf: 4. Final approach and landing in Dusseldorf: How do you download the videos? I can only watch them.JimCYWG
October 16, 200916 yr For me, this addon is way out of my reach. Too expensive when you can buy the same thing from Flight One the Super 80 which is great value with the most fps freindly cockpit ever. The Super 80 comes with a 'money back' guaruntee, and has more going for it than the Leonardo, sorry Les :( Dave Taylor
October 16, 200916 yr Damnit... The urge to buy this thing is building up and it is starting to become wholly unresistable. I'll nuy it very soon (or ask for it as a review copy somewhere *whistles*). Point is, I need to get this. I love T-tails, I love old technology, and I like realism, although I do like having a simple flight now and then, where I cna just jump in and go. For that reason, I have the Overland Fly Into the Sky packages. Luckily it was my birthday not long ago, so I have money enough to buy this ;-) Benjamin van Soldt Windows 10 64bit - i5-8600k @ 4.7GHz - ASRock Fatality K6 Z370 - EVGA GTX1070 SC 8GB VRAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX @ 3200MHz - Samsung 960 Evo SSD M.2 NVMe 500GB - 2x Samsung 860 Evo SSD 1TB (P3Dv4/5 drive) - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM - Seasonic FocusPlus Gold 750W - Noctua DH-15S - Fractal Design Focus G (White) Case

The newer CoolSky version is only for FSX. The VC in the Coolsky version dosen't have 3D switches like the Leonardo version. The Leonardo version models everything from brakes overheating, engine overheating when throttles are pushed to the max, to failures of every kind imaginable. There's no comparison between the two. It took me some time to realize this but now that I've fully learned the Leonardo version I can make an educated comparison between the two. Don't get me wrong I like the CoolSky FS9 model but they get no kudos for abandoning FS9 with their latest MD-80 effort. The only advantage of the latest Coolsky model is performance in FSX which really doesn't matter as we're talking FS9 here...Damnit... October 17, 200916 yr i'll certainly will. When I have the time to look at a new plane, I will buy it. For now, I have some reviews to finish that have a higher priority, I'm afraid. October 18, 200916 yr At the risk of sounding arrogant (not meant that way, honest), comparing the Coolsky model in the same sentence as the Leonardo shows that you haven't tried the Leonardo. It is almost like saying that the default 737 is better than the PMDG version.Just my 2 penethsNeil

October 26, 200916 yr Sorry to bring this topic up again, but I made a promise. I said I'd say what I think of the Maddog once I bought it. Well, I bought it, so here's my opinion:WOW.I have never. ever thought it'd be this complex, advanced, and what not. I mean, the details on this plane... My god. You can even fiddle with the little switches and buttons and what not that are on the big electrical circuit board, ya know, the panel that in most aircraft is a flat bitmap, and unaccesible to the pilot. I am awed by this. Printing out the tutorial now, so I can get some reading done. But by god, while the VC is not state of the art, it does the job finer than fine (the window, you actually have to unlatch it first before you can open it! THAT'S the attention to detail I love and find completely and freaking awesome!), and I'm already liking it.But this is complex. I have never seen something like it before, and while PMDG aircraft are renowned for their systems, I'm not quite sure how the Maddog compares. I have the feeling it gives you much more options than at least PMDG's 737, 747 and J41 (don't know about the MD-11).So, just my opinion, but I'ma very happy buyer. Not just because of the overall greatness of the system simulation, but also because you can save the panel state, which makes this plane officially better than any of Ariane's 737 planes, where you can't save the panel state. This small, but for me very important fact, makes it possible to do longer flights without having to re-adjust all buttons again upon loading the flight.*sigh*Greatness in a 217MB package. Well done Leonardo! October 26, 200916 yr Even with the old graphics and no support from the team this package is still really amazing. And still absolutely the BEST MD-80 simulation for FS9. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
October 26, 200916 yr Yeah, I use it in FSX now, and it works good enough for me. Can't say performance is stunning, but oh well. I guess I don't care too much. I can't wait to start learning how to fly it. First, I'm gonna make a repaint of Surinam Airways for it. After that, probably Martinair. October 29, 200916 yr Commercial Member If any of you are interested, I'm doing an FS2Crew for the Leonardo Mad-Dog. It's nearly done.I'll say that in terms of system detail, the Leonardo Mad Dog is on par with the best, such as the Flight1 ATR or PMDG stuff. The level of systems modeling on this plane is really quite impressive.
