So how far did Airliner-XP get?

Featured Replies

I mean, did their A320 ever get to beta, did anyone ever see anything besides the screenshots on their website? I wonder if the full story of AXP will ever come out? Come to think of it, did the protagonists ever offically state that it was dead?As far as I can work out, Vauchez quit first, followed by Lou Betti (who appears to have hung up his modelling pen without so much as a farewell), leaving Jean from RXP, who as far as I can work out is still active with RXP. Has he ever said anything?Who knows, maybe it'll be out for Christmas! :( Cheers, SLuggy

I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?

I would be surprised if the project is still alive. Like you said, two developers have already left the building, the last update is 2,5 years old and the forum is closed for almost two years now. A quote of Jim Rhoads of Flight1 on the subject:

I cannot officially answer for Dreamfleet or Airliner XP, (somebody should) but I can tell you that I would not hold my breath.
What was the initial release date of the AXP A320? Q2/2007?! :( GreetingsTim

The Airliner XP failure was a real disappointment for me. It really looked good for a while, but that's just the way things turn out sometime. And not just in the world of FS. Lets hope Airsimmer doesn't go the same way.Perhaps the A320 is jinxed and we'll never see a really good FS9 or FSX one :(

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

As far as i know they ( Airliner XP ), quit their job of making A320. Why, who knows...Beside Airsimmer and Wilco, i suggest you to wait for Aerosoft A320.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

Beside Airsimmer and Wilco, i suggest you to wait for Aerosoft A320.
No, I won't. Aerosoft itself hast stated that system simulation will be very simplified. So this will only be a product for the downmarket. It will never reach the standard of the Airsimmer Bus basic version

Yes, exactly. Like default flightplan import for example, instead of internal MCDU planning. Plus it's gonna be A321 only (at least initially). And for FSX only, of course (and that's the FS9 forum).

LOL, that's gorgeous! You've made my day, Gavin. Thanks, mate!

Very true. But we really got slapped right in the face without any explanation what so ever......nothing more and nothing less. That in my view is just a typical example of how some developers just "laughes behind our backs". :(

I believe that's a stretch. I think it just goes to show they have much more important things to worry about than us flight sim nerds.

This is quite obviously hearsay, but I do remember it being mentioned on many a fora (including the much maligned Flightscenery forum) that Vauchez has quit the "business" for serious, personal reasons. He has since returned (apparently contributed to France VFR), but has kept very low key - which doesn't surprise me considering some of the burnt bridges with ex-customers of PVD and PDX. No idea if he's still active though. No idea what happened to Lou either, I had a break from simming at the time he seemed to have jumped ship, I seem to remember a thread somewhere on flightsim.com forums that he was thinking about leaving, but I could be imagining things at this point.Reality XP obviously went back to doing what they do best. The Airliner XP saga begun with extreme hype and many promises. I'm sure the team knew of the mounting problems way ahead of the usnsuspecting public and probably could have handled it better from a PR standpoint. Having said that - the product was always in the realm of vapourware and other than a few screenshots, we never had anything tangible to go by. If any people are seriously disappointed by this, well...it's not like they took your money :) Think of AXP as the DNF of flightsim and make nothing more of it. Maybe, one day, it'll see the light of day? Who knows :)

Cheers,

Mack

And that's fine. There are certainly more real life things to worry about. But how much effort would it take for a simple explanation? By not doing so can rightfully be perceive by some as a "slap in the face."

I only consider a slap in the face if they took something from me.

That's terrific. Not if they hyped the product to no end, and then just disappeared without a word. Good for you. And thanks for the semantics, even though you knew what was meant.

Did you have your juice today?
