December 1, 200916 yr Commercial Member Thanks for this, great work! It has inevitably led to some problems figuring out stuff for me..Can you tell me how to enter the tacan for example, following the instructions in the read me, I cant enter the carrier frequency as 47x , as i cannot see how to enter an "X" ( there are only numbers on the touhpad) when i press the button next to the "X" next to the touchpad, it does nothing. so ithought I would use the numeric version (1,1,1,0,0,0) but when i press enter, the display shows "error" Is there a step by step instruction anywhere as to how to do this and use it properly? And how do you get the realistic audio in the you tube video? BTW impressive night landing dude!!cheers,Mark

December 1, 200916 yr Additionally, you should be able to just type "4 7" and press ENT or 54 whatever carrier you are using. Both the TACAN channels and ILS freqs work for me.I think the sound in the video was edited in.Also, this should be a helpful link, it's from when Accel first came out - the unofficial guide to the F18http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php...0&board=4.0 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 1, 200916 yr They say the best things in life are free........this is certainly one of them!!!! :( Thank You Jivko Rusev for this fantastic addon/mod that gives new life to the Hornet!Cheers!!
December 2, 200916 yr Commercial Member Thanks guys, i am one step further ( the entering the tacan channel properly tip worked fine,Thanks) but not there yet!! On the video, I can see the "tcn " indication on the middle right of the hud, counting down the distance to the ship. I dont get that. In the video, I see the cross hairs in the centre of the hud and the square box. I dont get that. I did some reading through threads on the forum link, and found one that said you press the ILS button on the MFD to get the ILS bars up, but that did not work. Also, I have used "shift - 2" to bring up the panel and switched the steering button to "Nav1", again, this did nothing. Can anyone do me a step by step to set the plane up for a tacan assisted landing on the carrier ? Or show me where I can find one? I am also finding that every time I land on the carrier, even if I am bang on and hear the winches grab the hook, I still get a crash. Its as if it does not detect me land properly, any ideas on that ? cheers, Mark
December 2, 200916 yr Great job on the HUD! Does anyone know if this HUD will work in the T-45C by Dino Cattaneo? Apparently the HUD in the T-45 was aliased from the Acceleration F-18 so I'm wondering if we could get the same functionality in the T-45C? I'll also echo the question above...what is needed on the carrier side of things for this to work? Will it work with AI Carriers in free flight mode? Thanks!Brandon

December 4, 200916 yr When unzipping the download I end up with a folder and two new unzippable files, are they supposed to be unzipped before being entered into the panel folder or are they just good to go?! "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
December 4, 200916 yr Commercial Member They are good to go dude, you just need them in the folder, cheers,Mark

I made the mistake of unzipping them and couldn't get it to work, lucky for me the "Creator" of the HUD,NEUTRINO is a good guy and helped me out.
December 4, 200916 yr Thanks, guys! Will give it a go! "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
December 5, 200916 yr Author Hi Mark, make sure you are landing at the proper approach speed, which is about 140 kts for the Hornet, depending on configuration (weight, flaps etc.). Also helps for smooth landings if you try to stay as close as possible to the centerline of the runway - if you are a little off, the aircraft may get off balance just enough to turn it over and possibly crash. The vertical speed (vsi - just above the altimeter reading), should not be higher than 850 fpm, anything over that and you may overstress the landing gear. Ideally the vsi should be about 650-750 fpm at touchdown.Hope this helps,J.R. I am also finding that every time I land on the carrier, even if I am bang on and hear the winches grab the hook, I still get a crash. Its as if it does not detect me land properly, any ideas on that ? cheers, Mark
December 5, 200916 yr Commercial Member Thx Neutrino, I was thinking my issue was not related to bad landing skills, as it seems to happen every time, and I know I am not that bad, I used to be able to do it pretty good. i will try again, but I can land, catch the wire, hear the arrestors and still it gives me a crash. i will practice more, i just wondered if there was any setting that may contribute? Perhaps how the sim reads my position in relation to the carrier? Is this affected by mesh for example? Cheers,Mark
