December 7, 200916 yr HiStill learning the product. Getting the hang of it. My only problem (or user error ;P) is the A/T logic on landing. Prior to FS2Crew, I would hand fly but still allow the A/T system to assist in appropriate weather conditions. At about 50 ft AGL the A/T would bring the throttles back to idle allowing me to add reversers. However, after I call for "LAND" on final with the A/T still engaged while using FS2Crew, My throttles go to max or only what I can assume to be GA mode. Why is this the case as it is not MD-11 logic?Or is it user error?Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It seems to me like its a mapping problem. The green button will call land while the red button will engage the TOGA. I would double check your button assignments for your yoke or joystick to make sure there are no conflicts.
December 7, 200916 yr Yes, in fact, "LAND" is pronounced. So I know the mapping works. I just get full throttle automatically when I start my flare.

December 8, 200916 yr No I'm not Bryan. Thanks for the reply. I simply have the plane set up for final. Tell the PNF, "LAND" at DA and continue the landing as normal pre-FS2Crew. As I start my flare at 50 AGL, she throttles up.

December 8, 200916 yr Yes sir. All updates were installed prior to the first use. I believe one update for FS9 and then the voice pack.

I believe one update for FS9 and then the voice pack.Have you asked the PMDG support forum as well?Perhaps someone there has some insight. So Go Around mode is being engaged or are your engines just spooling up by themselves? December 8, 200916 yr I have not asked in the general PMDG MD-11 forum. I figured I'd start here. Go Around is not engaged per se but the engines do spool up right at flare almost like they feel as if they need to maintain Vref instead of going to idle so I can land.
December 8, 200916 yr What is announced on the FMA when the engines spool up in the flare? Are you getting RETARD and FLARE announciations?Do you have a hardware throttle controller? From the MD-11 manual:Wait until you are 1400ft above ground (as indicated by the radio altimeter on the PFD). At that time you should have the following PFD indications:Green ʻDUAL LANDʼ indication (4). Flaps 35 indication (5). Green box at the centre of the EAD alert area (6).
December 8, 200916 yr Is it that you're doing a landing by hand?If you disconnect the autopilot I think you also have to disconnect the auto throttle (the little button on the side of the throttle control). You can map a keyboard command for auto throttle disconnect in the PMDG menu.I hope that helps rather than confuses.Peter
December 9, 200916 yr Let me just stress again that when flying the MD-11 sans FS2Crew, I have absolutely zero problems. Yes, I understand the set ups and FMC and CDU and etc. I have everything set up correctly and have done well over 100 flights with her without FS2Crew. All the flights have been great. Now, when adding FS2Crew, I found the problems.Peter, thanks, i understand that you can disconnect the A/T and that is separate from AP. As I stated earlier, I like to use the A/T even when hand flying because it is modeled to do so. I like the fact that it retards the throttles 50 AGL for me. Yes, I could also disconnect the A/T and hand fly with throttles. I have done this in the past but I was never FORCED to do it on final. So the ins and outs of the AP and A/T are not my problem. It is the fact that FS2Crew doesn't model the MD-11 A/T system correctly for me.Kimmo, Thanks, i have no idea what the HSI is telling me at that point. All I know is the my ENG variables are spooling and I'm trying to land. I have to immediately try and diconnect A/T to lose the thrust. Happens so quickly that I haven't paid attention. Way different than what the MD-11 should be doing at that point in the flight. Again, yes, I have throttles and etc. and they are always at idle when landing so the A/T can do its thing without interference from my hardware.Guys, thanks so so much for the input. however, i would like to reiterate that this is not a PMDG MD-11 problem/confusion. My Fs2Crew is changing something. I'm back to flying the MD-11 without FS2Crew and I'm fine.
December 9, 200916 yr Just to be sure, please reinstall FS2Crew and note the announciations on the FMA when flaring from a manual approach with autothrust engaged, and post them here. Also note them when flying without FS2Crew. Is something different?I'd like to know as I remember experiencing something similar once but I can't remember the details how I fixed it.
December 19, 201114 yr Will have to bump this one....am experiencing the same thing....at about 50ft my throttles go to full TOGA, even though I am on a full manual approach...have passed decision height, advised intention to land...about 50ft, my throttles go full forward, no matter what I do!
