I can't stress this enough for anyone using REX...

Once again, anything more than 4 is pure placebo effect. There is no difference. Anyone wanting to prove there is one, I urge you to post the screenshots.

Hello Dilloll0I tried your recomendations but found that things worked just the opposite for me. Flying with REX was like playing checkers, jumping from square to square. And for what its worth I have never seen such terrible water reflections as those in REX. And I think that REX is one of the worst addons I have ever purchased so far. Does anyone else have those feelings??
Nope. Sorry.
These values should give users a better experience than the other set of values that were posted!!
Yep those are the only ones that work since 6 years ago lol everything else will revert back ;-)Cheers,Andr

Limiting the visibility in FSUIPC or AS6.5 doesn't have anything to do with how far "detailed" textures are drawn. It simply makes the horizon look better - eliminates the classic FS9 "hard/sharp horizon line" that to me at least looks nothing like what a real horizon looks like most of the time. The settings in the cfg being referred to in this thread are not "visibility"-related. I'm pretty sure the 4.5 limit Holger settled on years ago is correct too as he presented pretty conclusive evidence of how the textures were drawing with different numbers in the cfg and anything over 4.5 had no effect...although, limiting the visibility could conceivably help less powerful systems keep up and allow the textures to fill faster I suppose. Is it possible you've gotten a more powerful system in the interim since the last time you flew with longer visiblity settings?

Nope, sorry. REX is probably one of the best environment add-ons I have ever bought for FS.
What he say. REX v2 is amazing!

Hi.Can we have some Before and After screen shots Please so we can see what you mean. Many thanks.

It's a busy Holiday weekend for me so I'm trying to make time.

Here are two shots using the new settings and running REX weather engine...Thanks

The shots look great. The question is, do they look any different than two shots taken under the same conditions/settings but with the lines in the config set at 4.5 instead of 60 or 70 or whatever...heres one I took at 4.5 -

Zoom setting was 0.65 for my two shots. What was yours ?

obviously mines from outside the plane (er, helicopter) and zoomed way out. Its immaterial becuase the point I'm making is that individual screenshots don't do anything to lend credence to specific claims about the effects of various tweaks. We really need two shots side by side where all the variables are the same except for the specific setting being investigated...

O.K. I had a little time to check these forums in the middle of everything else I got going on right now. I had to address this comment as many of us are doing the News Years eve celebration preparation thing. My question here is why do you need us to do comparison screenshots and the work of putting our original config back in place when you can do that yourself? You don't need any of us to do the work of creating a situation twice to prove a point when you can do your own research. Either it works on your system or it doesn't. It's apparent this works for some and not others and you may not be one of those people this works for. On the other hand this might work on your setup, skepticism is not needed just try it and judge for yourself. I can tell you from the screenshots above my original config had detail ground scenery display only half the distance of the shots shown above. After I made the adjustments I posted here I'm getting the distance shown in the shots above. Now the true question is are many of you already getting that type of detail stretching out that far? It should be obvious without anything we could do on our end if your getting the same thing shown above or not. You don't need anybody here for that. If your already seeing detail stretching far out of course your not going to see a difference but in my case I wasn't. I'm inclined to rule out video card settings because I can't imagine how that would play a factor here. Anyway if your already getting what's displayed in the shots above then there's nothing you need to do, if your like me and not seeing the distance detail then try my suggestion, last but not least if your not getting what's shown above on your setup and my suggestion doesn't work then I don't know what to tell you. Bottom line is this worked for me and made many of REX's sky textures more enjoyable. Everyone's mileage in this case varys quite a bit it seems...

I have tried it and saw no difference. The reason its sort of important for you to do it is becuase you are the one making the claim that it does make a difference ("I can't stress this enough for anyone using REX"). If it does work on your system, I'd be interested to know why it wouldn't on mine or anyone elses. These are hard numbers in the config file for the software. Why would a change like this work on some and not others systems? But regardless of all that, what settings were you running for those parameters prior to making these changes? If it was anything below 4.5 then the effect yr seeing is likely just the bump up to the 4.5 limit since FS reads any number above 4.5 as 4.5 (at least thats what Holger came up with after running a bunch of comparison tests and I'm inclined to agree since I've never noted any changes with settings higher than that).

Well, i've try those numbers mentioned above, but NO change at all. The only difference is when i put those numbers from 1 to 4, everything above 4 has no effect on anything, i mean 4 or 444...same thing.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....
