Great, so they broke it for the 4 series but it works on the 5...
Hi all and particularly Ryan (Tabs)Might have some good news about this but experience might vary for you.I have Windows 7 64Bit with an ATI4850 with 1gig memory.Just tried out the latest beta ATI drivers which are dated 10th February, Beta Catalyst 10.2s I think.Opened FSX and changed display settings from having Anti Aliasing ticked to unticked and then put filtering back to Trilinear.Set CCC 3Dsettings to Optimal Quality 8xAA and 16x AF, went into FSX, at first it seemed it was still broken as microlight was still looking very jagged and loaded up a flight in Full screen mode. Was very happy to see that Anti Aliasing was working and Antiosoptric Filtering was working too. Came out of the flight and then noticed the microlight was not jagged anymore so I am hoping that this issue has been resolved in FSX at last and hopefully the official Catalyst 10.2 at the end of the month will have the issue fixed but for now for me the Betas have fixed my problem I have had with the drivers for a long while as have had to set AF and AA on ingame for a while since they stopped working. I say worked for me as well we alll know that sometimes what one person gets on on PC doesnt mean it works for all.. Craig

I just put a new Gigabyte 5870 into my FS machine with the Catalyst 10.2 official release drivers, and noticed the same--clearly AA/AF was not being forced until after I went in and out of full-screen mode.8xAA with Adaptive AA and 16X AF on the 5870 looks pretty good. After three more black-screen crashes on my GTX285 in the last two days, I decided to try something different...RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Hey Bob, I too just grabbed a 5870 after having a broken GTX285, and I find the card stable and powerful. Overall excellent results in FSX, with very good image quality. I didn't want another GTX285 as this card is getting quite old market-wise yet is still expensive, and the 5870 outperforms it comfortably in most benchmarks.Dave

Has anyone got Vsync working with the 5870?I'm testing one now and I'm not impressed at all. I've tried different drivers. The latest drivers look bad and some of the older drivers cause blurries. The super sampling aa causes a slide show on my system. This is painful. Win 7 ranks gives it a rating of 7.8. With some of the settings I noticed an increase in performance. But, the image quality is just not there for me.

VSync works with WinXP. On Vista and Win 7 it seems hit and miss. Some are seeing the Vsync issue and others dont. I would like to know what monitors are being used for those that dont see the problem and those that are and see if we can see a pattern emerge.

I got it to work reliably under Vista 64 by using ATI Tray Tools to force VSync on. I posted the details in another topic.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO
