Black Screens & Missing Textures in Windows 7? Here's the FIX!

Featured Replies

I'd like to add that compatibility mode is not available in all Windows 7 version, I think it is only in Ultimate and maybe Professional.Ulisses
I'm hardly an expert on Windows 7 versions. However, my understanding was that the "compatability tab" is present in all Windows 7 versions. However, Professional and above have an extra "XP compatability" which sounds like it is something of a virtual XP mode. Hardly am I an expert though.

Well...... Just tested something with a situation that was crashing the whole thing ALWAYS - La Guardia+Manhattan+Traffic+MD-11+ASA.... The solution provided by ******* WORKED for me. No graphic corruptions so far. Will continue down this road. Hope is on again..For those who don't know how to find the "compatibility" mode - right click on the FSX icon, all the way down to properties/compatibility.Question? Why Vista SP2 compatibility and not XP SP3? (I'm just curious, the Vista SP2 works for me at the moment)...Once again BIG thanks to ******* for the provided solution!

XP will also work I guess, you are reverting to XPDM mode, not WDDM 1.0.. BOTH mature driver architectures, yet WDDM 1.0 is way more efficient in video ram usage/swap.I'm glad it worked for you.

The Vista SP2 solution works on my system. Been testing this for several days with PMDG MD11X & 747 with ASA FEX UTX GEX ENB Mod and I have not seen the despised Black screen, texture smearing or missing texture problems that usually accompany an OS other than XP64. Will continue to test this relentlessly and will report back any problems should they arise. Thank you.EDIT: Fail. Just had the missing texure problem as I ran through a series of ALT Enters before finishing FSX. We are getting closer but still no fix.

Bojote,Intersting topic. By the way have you made any more of your great videos with fs2crew and vatsim running? I used to love watching your 767 flight videos.

Old topic but is this Vista SP2 compatibilty mode still a valid solution to the black screen/missing texture problems or has there been a better suggested fix in the last 2 years? :Praying:I've been getting these of late on approach to YSCB from YMML. The ground tiles show black on banking to final before the textures finally load and I then get fps drop from 30 to around 10 before a random d3d.dll ctd.
