Looking for a complicated plane for very short flights

Featured Replies

The developers recently initiated a bunch of fixes and added "key events" for those wanting to interface hardware like, custom panels, GoFlight, or touch screen capability.
Good news! Is the patch already out?I've bought Mustang 2 or 3 months ago, but had to ask for a refund since the lack of keyboard assignments (at least altitude, heading, speed knobs and buttons) is a no-go for me. I've searched theirs forums by that time, but the response from developers was less than positive. They did not seem to be interested in adding assignments :(The plane per se was a joy to fly, so i may consider buying it again if the patch is out.

Regards,

Radek

I'm with HercFan on this one. If you want complicated, turn away from the GPS and learn to fly by dead reckoning. Get a sectional, some good scenery, and a light GA plane w/a VOR head or two, just to use as a backup. When I was learning to fly this way for real, it was pretty all-consuming. Between trying to figure out where the **** you are, comparing it with where you're supposed to be, and keeping an eye out for traffic, you definitely won't have time to get bored. Having good scenery like the upcoming FTX NA Blue makes this sort of flying particularly rewarding. (sorry, had to plug)

rdb,Yes the patch is out.....it works great.I have my TouchBuddy profile almost completed. They did all the panels like the PFD, AP and MFD, plus a few other things, with the exception of some of the switches. Bill Clark

Well, maybe I should give that a thought, but then I would have to have sectionals/charts first... And since it's no photorealistic scenery down there, isn't it hard to find your way in completely unknown territory?EDIT:I see the skyvector site has charts... Boy, do they look complicated. :( But I don't want to switch between FSX and a site, so I'd have to print them somehow... What would a good map for the PNW region cost?
This model was built for FS9, where it was (is) excellent. There was a conversion to FSX, but it was more of a retrofit than a rebuild, and it hasn't been updated for SP2/Acceleration.
hi,Yes the do 27 is a very good choice. It is amazing how outstanding aircraft can be quickly forgotten. Developpers spend countless hours to design them and after a few months nobody no longer talks about them. I was a contributor to the DO 27 forum but it died away It was the forerunner of accusimed aircraft. Difficult to master but rewarding. It works well with FSX SP 2 but the gorgeous textures are a bit hard on frame rate on my computer.
How about the F1 Cessna Conquest 441 - dated but still viable.jja
Only if you like to use 2D pop up screens to flick switches. My Conquests now relegated to AI dutyTwins are NBG for sightseeing for there is very little vision as the two power plant nacelles get in the way. Better with a Mustang or PC12 type of aircraft where the cockpit is "Out front" and views aren't obstructed with Nacelles or Mainplanes (Wings to most people).

I do most of my flying in outside view. It is one of the advantages of Flight Simming. :( jja
