April 2, 201016 yr Is there anyway to remove the VC and Cabin from the wilco ERJ 145, 135, 145XR and the ERJ170/190? It just uses up unnecessary frame rates because I just never even use them. I don't like that feelthere never gives you an option to remove the vc and cabin like other developers do. Scott
April 2, 201016 yr Nevermind I got it using the hex editor. Is there anyway to create wingviews with it since there is no vc?Scott
April 2, 201016 yr Nevermind I got it using the hex editor. Is there anyway to create wingviews with it since there is no vc?ScottNum KB 7 or 9 (with Num lock On) should give you Look Ahead Left or Right. Add Control with those commands and that view should lock. Num 4 or 6 should give views Look Left or Right- whether there is a wing there will depend on the designers of the plane- but you will at least have the FS View !Have a peek in Assignments for the "Look -----" commands. If you change these commands from 'Control-----' to 'Shift-----' the view will set and lock by merely hitting the num key by itself.Alex Reid.
April 3, 201016 yr Scott,Were you able to retain your physical wingviews after removing the VC and Cabin? I did this too but lost the actual wing views. Wondering if the VC and cabin were tied to the wing views as well.Mike
April 3, 201016 yr Scott,I also want to get rid of these VCs. Can you please share how you managed to loose them using the hex-editor? Thanks.Regards, Eric
April 3, 201016 yr Hi.I would also like to get rid of the VC's. Can you detail how you did it please, and what / where you got the necessary software from.Thanks. Steve. Unlike the British Government, I actually Learn from my Mistakes.......... Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.
April 3, 201016 yr I found the following information from an old forum post which I had saved in my "stack of stuff".:Perhaps it will be useful - but I have never tried it myself.quoteYes, you can! As far as removing the VC from the A/C model is concerned, it is perfectly possible and actually quite simple to do, involving only a hex editor and two changes to the aircraft.mdl file.A good hex editor can be found here (Hex Workshop 4.1 - shareware but fully functional for long enough to get the job done and then some):http://www.bpsoft.com/downloads/Open the mdl file you want to edit and search for the following hex value: 0022003900In the first two occurences of that string, simply change the 39 in 0022003900 to 00. It should now look like this: 0022000000. Save the changes, OK the creation of the backup file then exit Hex Workshop to test it out in MSFS.I have found that this works on mdl files created in GMAX, FSDS, and FSDS2. It works on the default FS9 A/C, including the new vintage models. It takes two minutes at the most to complete, and if a computer moron like me can do it, then anyone can, including chimpanzees. If you decide to go this route, be sure you use your new mdl file powers for good, not evil. end quoteHope that is useful.
April 3, 201016 yr To disable the VC and keep the landing lights coded in the .mdl file, use a hex editor to look for the second occurrence of 00 22 00 39 00 in the .mdl file, and change the 39 to 38 (not 00). This should kill the VC textures and keep the landing lights coded into the model visible from the 2D flight deck view. My FS Videos
April 3, 201016 yr Wow, I'm always in the market for a good VC. It took us years in this community to perfect the idea/concept... :( FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
April 3, 201016 yr Wow, I'm always in the market for a good VC. It took us years in this community to perfect the idea/concept... :(The reality is that some simmers love VC and some simmers have a great distaste for them.I think the distaste likely comes from there being so many "poor" VC's - where the display is realatively dark and the gauges almost unreadable.I've only seen a very few VC's where the display was bright and crisp and was comparable to the 2D cockpit.Just my take on the subject.
April 3, 201016 yr Anyone know how to get rid of the external model but retain the VC? I often wish that I could save a few frames by getting shot of the unecessary external model. I fly from within the VC. I guess for some this would be sacrilege LOL.

April 3, 201016 yr Hello, What about that view skip gauge.I still use it on a number of aircraft.Go from 2d to tower view, and bypass VCockpit view altogether.Maybe easier than all that HEX edit stuff, and possibly easier to retrieve the VC should you decide that you want it at some later(big new beefy pc a few years hence) stage.Methink the intend of the OP is to gain some on framerates ...Your trick will indeed disable the VC from view but will not eliminate it from the model.Consequence is you don't see more the VC .. but you don't gain any benefit for the frames rate .... AFAIKRegards.Gus.
April 3, 201016 yr Removing Virtual "trash" in 2D views sure improves things! Here are comparison pics of the FS9 default KingAir.Note to Gus- In default planes, the 2D version uses Virtual views for other than View Fwd. There are no 2D only views for other than Fwd. That's why deleting virtual artifacts is necessary. Any addon planes I have seen. provide DIFFERENT views for 2D & Virtual.Alex Reid
April 3, 201016 yr Sounds like you guys got your answer before I could get to it. I used the hex editor in finding the string. And the trick is indeed to change it from 39 to 38 so you don't lose the landing lights in the 2d panel mode. I still lose the wing views also when I get rid of the vc and cabin, I'm sure they are tied to it some how.Scott
