Current FS9 status......................

Can you really run large 3rd party airport sceneries + AI traffic + complex aircraft with FPS 30+? I know I don't have an i7 (see specs below), but I can't get RealAir's Duke to run without dipping into the teens just during cruise over default scenery. That kind of performance is simply unacceptable to me. Taking a complex airliner into a busy 3rd party airport would be a disaster for me.
i actually get a headache unless i can get constant 60+ fps in any games. If i can't, i uninstall the game. And i'm not willing to sacrifice graphics to achieve it. I need 60+fps and MAX settings :) For FS9, not only does 60+ fps make the flight feel extremely realistic (you can feel every tiny bump), but very necessary when landing. The tiny adjustments can't even be felt at 15-20fps. I ran FS9 on a crappy laptop once, and got 30-ish fps. At these settings, the flight felt boring and mechanical...because FS9 doesn't register the tiny movements unless you can achieve high fps.-feng

Interesting. I didn't know that.I fly with FPS locked at 30 (more than enough for me) to help in reducing ground blurries.
That seems sort of strange, there are people with this months lastest n greatest hardware having problems with fsx . What is your secret ?
I have ensured my machine is clean, minimal stuff (processes) running in the background, dedicated HD (2 terabytes), I really pay attention to the clean install and carefully read through all the forums and apply tweaks with gentle care, one at a time, try it out, and the most recent has really helped BP=0, no more micro stutters. What can I say! my i7 920, 12 gigs RAM, 1.7 Mb GTX 265 seems to do the trick. on Win7 64 bit platform.

What resolution and FSAA are you running? I am guessing something relatively low?

Resolution 1680x1050120 Hertz for the 3D VisionAA = 4Is this what your looking for? Here are a couple of screenshots of what I see out my cockpit window, and I run at 30fps, pretty steady

I just recieved my new Acer GD235HZbid Black/orange 23.6" 2ms Widescreen 1080p 120Hz 3D-Ready LCD Monitor yesterday. I almost feel like it improved my frame rates. although I haven't compared it to my old 60 hz lcd yet. 30 fps looking at default scenery in fsx with no panel in view .I know a default set up sim is not what I want to view.

Nice screens!Sometimes I wish I had a different panel. This 2560x1600 is a real bear on game performance. *******'s tweaks helped a LOT with regards to getting me to where I am happy with FSX now. I still can't help but wish I did not have to tweak settigs just to get thigs running smoothly though.

How about a complex add-on aircraft at KJFK or KLGA with a lot of traffic?

Heh...that should tell the tale. (Of course, screenshots don't.)

Yes, that's the problem. I enjoyed FSX as long as you stayed away from busy areas, but once you get into a busy airspace, forget it. (at least for me). I'd find myself planning flights specifically to avoid areas with hard FPS hits. It just takes a lot of fun out of things.

Thats what I find so enjoyable about FS9 now - the fact that you can fly anywhere with the settings maxed out and get great performance. No more compromising with the sims potential. You can enjoy everything it has to offer...

Fact - I could happily continue to enjoy flying FS9 for years without another thing being released for it...Fact - there aren't enough hours in the day for me to actually use a tenth of the available add-ons already released for FS9Fact - life will go on even after FS9 has finally run its course and diss-appeared into the dust of time.Fact - developers are free to run their enterprises as they see fit.
You hit the nail square on the head there :(

Hello dear FS9'ers,I am a long time simmer, since FS4.exe times on my old 286 8mhz vga color screen with 1mb ram and 16mb hard drive space to now, a Intel I7 950 with 6gb 2000 ram, 2x Geforce 260GTX limitted edition's with 1.79GB of ram each, a devoted velociraptor for fs9, complete set of yoke, rudder+quadrant (Ch products), 28" lcd screen, creative sblaster Xfi fatality boomin' on the awesome logitech 5.1 Z5500 sound system which has an amazing subwoofer. Dedicated SSD for win7 x64 and i'l start by saying that every single setting in FS is set to max and at 1920x1200 res with the fps settings set to unlimitted, i have seen smooooooooth flight with 340fps :) and you can see the lighest of twitches on the aircraft in case of turbulence etc. Many addon's also, with high fidelity airports with Aes, high quality aircraft addons. I don't need FSX which has a cartoony feel to it. FS9 is the best out of all the releases which Microsoft has pumped out. I mean, its very nice for so many addons to work together, PFE, FDC, fspassengers, active sky, auto tower...amazing stuff. It just gets better and better and it's not like developers are not releasing addons for Fs9, there are addons being released and it is good that they are! keep them coming :(

i cannot see the flashing cursor when im writing a post and i cannot click anywhere and change a letter for example....any ideas to what might be the problem?
