Current FS9 status......................

Exactly.I also see MSFS as a dead end now.Given the amount invested, FS9 will stay alive on my computer until a real "Next-gen" sim arrives. This could be years away, no problem, I will still not have reached the "end" of this wonderful toy!Even then, the new sim better be pretty good...
My sentiments exactly. This box ain't going away anytime soon!! :(

It doesn't take a rocket scienist to know that fs9 is not :( "dead".Take a look for yourself :( at the avsim file library.Fact, still to this day FS9 has the most uploaded files by people taking out time of their lives to create for this great sim.Fact, still to this day FS9 has the most Downloaded files.Fact, still to this day FS9 is the most focused on in files this month apirl 2010.Fact ,still to this day FS9 is the most focused on this year in the file library and for the last 6 years.I know for a fact fs9 is not dead.Fact ,other microsoft sim versions did die out shortly after the release of newer version ,but clearly that is not the case for FS9.
fs9 my precious :(

Fact - I could happily continue to enjoy flying FS9 for years without another thing being released for it...Fact - there aren't enough hours in the day for me to actually use a tenth of the available add-ons already released for FS9Fact - life will go on even after FS9 has finally run its course and diss-appeared into the dust of time.Fact - developers are free to run their enterprises as they see fit.

Well said...As I said in the Another one bites the dust thread
I agree, very well said Craig...I too have been watching this thread, especially after starting the why such a negative disposition to FS9 thread....My .02,At the end of the day it is the developers choice to make. I am sure no developer WANTS to leave $$ on the table and if there was a positive ROI for them they would continue to develop for FS9. If the development time and cycle costs will not or can not be recuperated then why would anyone expect a developer to continue to develop for FS9??? My personal opinion is I LOVE FS9, I am more satisfied with it now than ever but I have accepted the inevitable reality that FS9 development has trickled to a slow stream opposed to the raging white waters we saw during its peak... I choose to stay with FS9 for what I have TODAY, not what might be coming in the future because chances are they will not be coming for FS9!What gives us FSniners a bad rep is the guys who assume they understand the developers business model and cost structure better than the developer. The guys who will not and can not accept when a release is not done for FS9 and continually badger the dev's to "change their mind". (back to my point earlier, they don't want to leave money on the table but there has to be a positive ROI!!!) The guys who do nothing but put down FSX in their support of FS9. (both sims have their value, why can't some of us accept that) The guys who think it is a big conspiracy theory against FS9 by FSX developers and so on and so forth....If you have made the decision to stick with FS9 (as I have for now) then enjoy what you've got, that is why you stuck with it in the first place. We as FS9ers HAVE TO face the inevitable though, devs have turned their focus to FSX and that is their prerogative, a lot of us have decided to stick with FS9 for our own reasons, that is our prerogative, but just because we decided to stick with it doesn't mean devs do too...It is time for us to start respecting the dev's decision and be happy with what we've got! Heck, to this day I think Acura dropping the Legend Coupe was the DUMBEST thing the company ever did. A lot of others do too, every time I go to my dealer we talk about how much we loved that car but I am not going to sit here and challenge their business decisions and expect them to start making it again because of my emotional connection...Just my .02 but I think it is time for us to let some things go, be grateful for what we have, enjoy the sim we all decided to stick with and get over this mentality of assuming that everything we want released for FS9 should be... Our emotional reasoning is obviously not meshing with the dev's business reasoning and IMHO business reasoning outweighs emotional reasoning any day of the week and that is coming from a real FS9 lover!Paul

Have a Wonderful Day

Sorry fellows, I have both on my computer and yes I do fly FS9 quite a bit due to certain sceneries and various addons, however, I made the big upgrade to a high end gaming machine 6 months ago and have my FSX sliders maxed and with a few tweaks of the cfg my FSX rocks and the dynamic scenery, moving vehicles, boats and high end addons, its a thing of beauty, even in 3D with my GeForce 3D Vision.

That seems sort of strange, there are people with this months lastest n greatest hardware having problems with fsx . What is your secret ?
FS9 still rocks, especially with all my add-ons I will NOT give up! ;)
Tim,You're largely responsible for FS9 looking so good, 7 years after it was released! Thanks for your work, you have genuinely revitalized FS9 with REX2004.Regards,

Tim I am having problems with my update. I have not tried to contact you thru your website because I am at work now and have to wait to get home to do that. It keeps saying it cannot find the file. I do have it on the C drive but my FS9 has a program jumper installed and is actually on my G drive coded as if it was on the C drive.P.S. It is your fault I am not planning to buy FSX for awhile because of REX extreme 2004. WOOOOWW!!!!!Carl Perry 7+ year sim pilot

I just want a descent 777 for FS9 made by a good developer like PMDG or Level D with most systems and FS9 forever!!! (The PSS POSKY merge isn't perfect!!!)

FS9 still rocks, especially with all my add-ons I will NOT give up! ;)
ME TOO.........................will never go FSX, sorry.

Methinks us fs9ers doth protest too much sometimes, almost like the 'poor folk' taking reverse psychological pride in their poverty :( Imho based on the current status, a tricked out, de-desertifed fsx beats a tricked out fs9 overall, and hardware is less and less of an issue. If I still had the level of interest I had a few years ago, it'd cost a few grand but I'd switch in a heartbeat, or at least use both.

Regards,

Mark

Maybe FSX beats Fs9 in some areas (imho only graphics) but to what cost? Given the need for high end hardware that still (!) cost quite a bit, as well as all the addons that make FSX look like a nice sim. And as some users point out: there

I still think FS9 looks better than FSX at times. I've said it before, the color palette for FSX seems strange to me. Almost as if it looks "cartoony" in some instances.Adding REX2004, the Maddog, and the Fokker 70/100 to my FS9 install put a rather substantial dent in my FSX time. Both are good products, but my FS9 install is a lot more fleshed out.
