Why? Perfect time to upgrade to FSX :( The hardware exists now to run FSX very well.

Nope, the hardware doesn't make the decision for me. Overall I don't like the FSX very well.FS9 is running very well, why should I change a running system? :(

For me the main reason was the much higher ground resolution. Looking out of the window in FSX is n WAY closer to realsim, in fact if you look e.g. at Switzerland X is looks exactly like in RL, simply breathtaking. But also the smaller details are worth it, like more realistic turbulence and definitely higher fidelity FDEs. I tried a few times to go back to fs9 because I didn't want to give up Flightscenery, the Cloud9 F-4 etc... But it was simply not possible to switch back to the low res ground, at least if you are a real pilot and know how the real world looks and feels like from above.

Because much better add ons are available for FSX and it runs just as well as FS9 IF you set the graphics details to a level that is similar to FS9 rather than moving all the sliders to the right and wondering why the performance is bad with the resulting tenfold increase in detail.

Where is Bill Womack when you need him - Bill, these guys are talking about the merits of FS9 vs FSX in the Carenado support forum. Even more, it is in the F33A Bonanza section. :(
