Blueprint's KDFW is out...

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd let everyone know who want's to ditch that framerate hungry Simflyer's version (the worst performing scenery in the history of FS) and the freeware versions in favor of something decent. I found if you don't use Blueprint's ground texture (an option in the installer) and install everything else it looks pretty good. FSDT's version is coming out sometime in the future but I needed something in the interim until then plus it's showing support for a developer still creating for FS9. Again this scenery is pretty nice and the best option as of now for KDFW, enjoy... :(

Any chance that you could post some screen shots of the scenery? Would really like to see some aerialshots of the airport....fairly close to reveal the buildings detail. Would like to see how well the main roads through the center of the airport were done. thx.

Hi,If anyone is interested in replacing FSX's default or Simflyers version of KDFW your better off waiting for FSDreamTeam's version that will be released soon. Aside from the fact that it will be far superior to Blueprint's, it will also have the ability to use Aerosoft's (AES) Airport Enhancement Services. JMHO

I have a couple of BP sceneries and put up with them, because there are no alternatives and because of the price. Lately their choices are well... odd. And I see KDFW is quite a bit more expensive than previous sceneries.I do not understand why anyone would buy this with FSDT's version coming out in the foreseable future. I support developers who still produce for FS9, but I do not buy products I do not want, that's sending the wrong signal, IMHO.

Hi,I agree, why would anyone want to spend about $60.00 for both FSX and FS9 airports from Blueprint that does not support AES, nor is it up to the standard of FSDreamTeam's work?. When you purchase from FSDreamTeam you get both FS9 and FSX versions for about the same price as Blueprint.

You get BOTH FS9 and X versions for about $33 from FSDT.

Hi,As of right now you do, but who knows how much FSDT's KDFW is going to cost. KDFW is a very large airport and I'm sure the price will reflect the extra work involved in releasing KDFW.

There is surely a lot work involved doing KDFW, compared to any other airport around. However, since we are quite sure to sell it in significant quantities, we are going to price it quite aggressively, and there will be plenty of discount options on top of that, for existing FSDT customers. And of course, FS9 and FSX versions for the price of one, which is the right thing to do, in order to ease FS9 users to eventually migrate to FSX, at their own pace.

I just bought KDFW for FS9 only (I don't fly FSX at all any more) and there is no reason to be apologetic about Blueprint's work on this airport. This may be their best scenery yet and well worth the modest $25 USD. I don't want to get into a debate as to whether it's as good as another airport from FSDT that isn't even out yet - that's pointless; but BPs new version is really nicely done. I will also be getting the FSDT version when it comes out, but for now I have planned many flights in and out of KDFW!>>I agree, why would anyone want to spend about $60.00 for both FSX and FS9 airports from Blueprint that does not support AES, nor is it up >>to the standard of FSDreamTeam's work?. I can see having both sims for one reason: the PMDG 737NG or any other a/c not available in FSX.

Your logic tends to support maintaining ONE version of the sim (FS9- the best) rather than two.gwillmot

Thank you, gwillmot . . . I didn't understand the point trying to be made there either, so I just let it slide . . .! :(

Hey Chuck,I think he is just saying he keeps FS9 around for those AC that are not available in FSX... Hence he still sees value in both sims. Lets not create an FS9 V FSX thread here... :( :( -P

I have several BP sceneries and appreciate them for the modest price (two of them are freeware and both nicely done!) and excellent FPS even if they are not necessarily "state of the art." As much as I admire FSDT products, I have tried a number of their "try before you buy" versions and my PC just couldn't handle them. BP has followed a philosophy of modest but adequate detail and very fair prices.I have two questions for anyone who has bought the BP KDFW.1. How are the frame-rates? It's such a HUGE airfield that I was wondered if even BP would have difficulty keeping this smooth.2. Has anyone tried it with the Megascenery for the Dallas area? Thanks

I hate to say this but for now I've switched back to FRF Studios' fine KDFW scenery. I'm now getting unexplained CTDs whenever I come within 10 miles or so of the BluePrint scenery so until I can get it sorted out, I've uninstalled it. Obviously, I've got some conflicting scenery somewhere although I'll be darned if I can figure out where! I CAN answer your second question: I don't use Megascenery.
