Fly the Maddog

Featured Replies

Hi All,This is to all FSX Maddog pilots. Can I please ask for your feedback on this bird (the latest Pro version) and how its flight dynamics, FMS, etc., is modeled. Looks impressive but does it have the brains too? Thanks in advance.Cheers,S.

The flight dynamics, systems depth, features, and failures make it one of the most realistic and incredible simulations available. Add the voice controlled FS2Crew software you will find it tough to find a more complete package. The VC is good, but not quite as good as some other more recent aircraft.

The Leonardo FlyTheMaddog is at least equal to PMDG in terms of failures, systems and FDE. Truthfully, it might actually even be a bit better. It's one heck of an aircraft for FSX.

Thanks for the positive reply guys. I've been toying with the idea of getting this bird but now I'll just go ahead and get it.Cheers

It ISN'T for FSX.It is just another FS9 portover. It has only been out 3 and a half years now... a bit behind the curve, eh? :(I'll stick with PMDG. At least they make real FSX planes. :(

I think that statement is a bit misleading. Fly the Maddog is in fact for FSX, and works very well for FSX even though it is not a native FSX model. While I am sure it would be even better if the model was FSX native, this does not change the fact that it is perfectly usable in FSX right now. Personally, I care very little about a native FSX model, and I would far rather that Leonardo focus on other aspects of the aircraft (such as implementing VCs for the alternate and analog panels). I just wanted to mention that in case any readers get the incorrect impression that the Maddog only works in FS2004.

Agreed with the above. It may technically be "ported", but works perfectly smooth in FSX. I even get good framerates on it, equal/slightly better than PMDG and much better than the likes of CS aircraft.

HelloThe Leonardo Maddog works in FSX but be aware that it is NOT an FSX native model and therefore the frame rates are not as good as you would get if it were in fact a native FSX aircraft.I actually do care about what models I install into FSX, as this does impact on the performance if you use portovers which is what the Leonardo is.That said it does work ok in FSX but even better in FS9 which is where I fly it.

I don't know how you have it setup on your system, but It operates fine in FSX and performance is no diffence in FSX than in FS9. I just complete a flight from JFK to ORD using FSDT airports and Manhatten, UT, GEX, 70%ai and ASE and it flew and handle like a charm. No hit in performace.

I fly the Maddog 2008 Pro between SeaTac and Portland all the time, setup just like yours, BM - and I get the same performance. Kiwikat should also get the same, as he's running the same quad:-
I guess I'm stuck in the stone age- FS9 portovers still destroy the FPS on my measly overclocked Q9550 and GTX 280.

Same here. Works great in both sims. Highly recommended.
