June 30, 201015 yr Well..there is a bug right out of the gate!My FTX Central no longer works right after installing the patch. I get an error box that comes up:Could not complete operation since a file already exists in this path 'C:\Program Files (x86)Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Scenery\ADE_PNW_3W5-ELEVATION_ADJUSTMENT.0FF'So, is my PNW now buggered with having installed the PNW 2 patch? I get HUGE craters in the terrain now with such airports as PAINE.Does anybody have a fix?!?!? Oh, and I did have FTX set to DEFAULT BEFORE I installed the patch....What a bummer...Mitch

This probably caused the issues. They posted a quick cure to do before running the patch again.Cheers.

I'll go to the forum and try to find that post you mention. So there is a cure...whooh...Thanks for the head's up.POST EDIT: Just did the deletion cure of files in WORLD SCENERY, ran the patch again, and now FTX CENTRAL seems to work fine with no 'could not complete operation' error messages. Whew...!Mitch
June 30, 201015 yr PNW.002 patch is released! Downloading now! Whoo Hoo! :(http://fullterrain.com/support.html I now have new behavior in FSX... when taking off, the simulation will stop for a second and continue on... very smooth flight, but every once in a while all stops... waits a second and continues on. Not sure I like it much..With PNW turned off, all is well, with PNW turned on... pauses. Is this part of the "optimization"? Bert

Not sure I like it much..With PNW turned off, all is well, with PNW turned on... pauses. Is this part of the "optimization"?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bert, I just took a flight with PNW Patch 2...and my system can barely make 11-14 FPS with major stutter! Pre patch 2, I easily had smooth flight and maintained 32 FPS. I adjusted nothing for the comparison.Post Edit: The best driver for the GTX285 hand's down...is the BETA 257.15'sI went back to the above from the latest Nvidia Stereoscopic BETA, just released...and thankfully have now full performance restored within PNW Patch 2 with 27-32 FPS out of and near PAINE airport, PNW. Now, back to fully explore Patch 2..:) Just coming back to say that even though BETA, the 257.15 when it came out, was the best driver my system has ever had installed, and having come back to it...will certainly paste the DO NOT DISTURB sticker on my box...lol. For my 285 1GB card, this driver suite is the 'driving force' please excuse the pun--- behind my 32 FPS in PNW Patch 2 and anywhere else on the FSX planet.
July 1, 201015 yr Mitch,I encountered the same error, visited the FTX forums, and all was well again. What driver where you using that gave you the poor performance? How well are you doing now in KSEA area?So far the new PNW patch is looking and working well on my system. I just wish I could get 30s in KSEA with dense AG. MSFS

I just wish I could get 30s in KSEA with dense AG.--------------------------------------------------------------I was running the new 258.69 I ran the patch, and where I had got consistent 27-32's FPS, I plunged down to 11-15 FPS taking off and heading out from PAINE, OR. This was post SP2. I then went back to my BETA 257.15's and got all my performance back. So, the PNW patch was NOT responsible for the performance plunge. It was the 258.69 on my GTX 285 1GB card. I'm right now at 10,500 feet heading from Troutdale to San Diego. Been having 32 FPS all the way. BTW, I created a folder with a TXT file placed into it that reminded me to put FTX CENTRAL into NORTH AMERICA mode BEFORE running the PNW SP 2. I then put the zip file into that. I suggest you might do the same to avoid the mutual mistake we both made, LOL!Oh, I haven't tried flying around the KSEA area, but will after this real-time flight and report back to you. Cross country is lookin' real good!Cheers!Mitch

Not sure I like it much..With PNW turned off, all is well, with PNW turned on... pauses. Is this part of the "optimization"?Well, I believe I have been able to fix the problem, and thank goodness!I had upgraded to a new release of Java which installed a Java pre-fetch routine (jqs.exe) on my system.Killing it, and also jusched.exe, the Java routine that checks for updates, has restored my FSX performance. July 1, 201015 yr Mitch,Don't bother with the Seattle area, unless you like flying with low fps or AG set to normal.FTX just released WA56 & 3W5. These airports just raised the bar again! MSFS
July 1, 201015 yr Hi All,I have a low to mid range system, and after installing the patch, I saw a noticable increase in FPS.This was quite surprising as I went from an average of 9 FPS to 15 or more. The FPS still bounces all over depending on the view and where the plane is.These guys must have some magic code they pulled out of their hip pocket.Bill Clark Windows 10 Pro, Ver 21H2 CPU I5-8600K 5.0GHz, GPU Nvidia RTX 3090 VRAM 24GB Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7, 2TB M2.NVMe, RAM 32GB
July 1, 201015 yr Commercial Member Unfortunately, many simmers freak out over updates.Being a programmer , IMO, I think that I can say that the updates almost always fix something IMO!jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
