Hi there. Its been some years since I last bought a product from PMDG. I simply had to stop buying every aircraft available and start flying them.The time has now come to change seats and go fly something new, like the MD-11 and the B747. The problem however, is that my stationarycomputer, which I run FS9 on, does not have any internet connection due to preference and thats what you require it to have if im gonna buy anyof your products?Is there any way around this? Because I have to buy an external wifi (we only have wireless internet where we live) for the computer, and suddenly everything becomes a little more costly and time consuming...Thanks for helping me out.Yngve

I think there are still boxed version of the 747-400, try some online shops for flight simulator. I don't think there are any for the MD-11Besides, you should post with your full name in this forum

Its a good idea, but I prefer to have it stored on the hard drive. I guess it will be the only solution to the problem?Yngve Giljebrekke

Boxed versions also require internet connection for activation. But You can connect Your PC to internet, activate product, disconnect, play game. You dont need all that "security" software for 30 seconds on internet. Just make sure Your system is up to date.

You will only get computer infections/viruses/trojans if you do pr0n(Pornography) or pirate software.

i have internet security and its a really big memory impact. the only time i have needed it is when i tried to jailbreak my iphone 3gs (with that new update) which failed and i needed to scan my pc because mcafee claimed the software may have a trojan or something. You only need Protection if your downloading unknown software, or going out on the town on a friday night!!! anyhow i'm the same, have bought the 727/757/767/747-400/MD11/F16/F18 and i find it hard to fly each of them!! (although the 757 and 767, both from CS, have a problem whith the flight dynamics so i am debating on getting rid!!)cheers

No, it's not that easy. Many trojans are scanning internet for vorunable computers and are able to execute exploits and gain access to Your system. You should always use some protection, not only on that Friday night ;) And times when You were loosing some FPS due to security software activity in background are long time gone with single core CPUs.

There are worms that spread on the internet without any interaction, you dont even have to download anything. Once I got a worm on my computer while downloading the latest updates for windows, had been online for about 15 minutes on a completely clean windows installation. I would highly recommend not to even connect to the internet without having an up-to-date windows and antivirus.

Yes, very funny,, ha ha.. :-)Anyways, trojans and other bugs are easily achieved from any source on the internet, even from Microsoft.com. Ive had enough trouble with my desktop computer getting infected and anti-virus programs eating up my memory,thats why I really wanted the PMDG products without having to go online with it. The point was also that I wanted to get the aircrafts quick and painless, but I realize that I have to connect it tothe web after all. All I wanted to know was if it was possible to install PMDG products without being online, andnow I know that it isnt.Thanks for the help (to those who hade something better on their mind than just joking!)

You can always transfer the downloaded file onto the other FS9 computer, install and then briefly connect it to the internet just to activate it. Your "exposure" will be very brief.

trust me for someone who uses the internet for flight sim related things and nothing else get AVG. Its free, will protect you from viruses etc nand will leave you worry free. this way you can download new liveries etc.cheers
