Does this guide still apply to Nvidia drivers v260.99?

Hi all,I'm at my wits end on this one- I've tweaked my settings as indicated in this post's first image. I've since read through the entire list of posts to seek some add'l help...Yesterday for NO apparent reason (ie no system/fsx changes) my default gps gauge stopped working. The gps window pops up, but the screen is blank. Occasionally I'll see a flicker of the map so I know it's there, but nothing I do makes it appear. I've tried several different aircraft, scenarios, et, and nothing has brought it back. Typically after a system restart it will be visible for about 30 seconds, then just go blank...Anyone have any thoughts on this? It's maddening, and I'm not about to reinstall FSX to "hope" that addresses it (since I JUST finished doing so a week ago). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Dan D.8800gtxOC 768, 260.99

Answers to some questions that have been posted:

for Ryan mate do you still have to go into the main nvidia control paneland do the setting before going into inspector or is it like nhancer now I have inspector 1.94.1cheers mark

No, with the later versions of Inspector, it's fully capable of replacign the Nvidia Control panel - all the settings that are in the control panel are also available in Inspector. It's like nHancer used to be.
hey everyone. i tried out the settings and they work great, fs9 never looked so good. However i was wondering if anyone can help me out, because with these settings, i get stutters when panning around outside but my frames (locked at 25) are at constantly at 25, so its not a framerate issue as far as i can see. Ive got an Nvidia 9600GSO 768mb with the latest drivers.
You might need to lower the AA some... try standard 4X Multisampling and see if you're still getting those stutters.

Yes, any 2xx.xx driver.

Dan, I think it's very unlikely this is related to the video card settings. Sounds like something else going on with FS to me. Did you try reverting to default video settings to see for sure?

Ryan,Sorry to be thick, but I'm still confused about the difference between the section that says "old information, do not use" and what the correct settings should be.Would it be asking alot to have an updated page that ONLY has the correct, best, and latest settings for Inspector, nVidia, FSX and FS9.I really hate to be a PITA, but I just got a new GTX 460, and would like to maximize it's potential.I run XP pro, AMD Athalon 64x2 5600+ dual core at 2.8Ghz, 4 GB of ram, ASUS M2N32-SLI mobo, on a 20" Acer monitor, plus the EVGA GTX 460.Already the JS41 looks spectacular...but I'd really like to max things out.Thank you,Justin Friedlandp.s.-can't wait for the 737NGX. Early screenshots look amazing...and I'm saving up for the manuals.

Ok, please forgive my ignorance (this has probably been asked before but I can't find an answer). Does Nvidia Inspector work with DX10 Preview? IIRC nHancer didn't, but not sure about Inspector. All I know is my performance is way better in DX10 but there are some things DX9 seems to be better for in FSX.

AA doesn't work period in DX10 mode in my experience. Nothing anyone can do about it unless you have the FSX engine's source code. Nvidia Inspector and nHancer are the exact same thing - just a better way of controlling the video driver's application profile options. They add nothing that isn't already there in the driver itself. What they do allow you to do is use driver modes that are normally hidden in the normal Nvidia Control Panel, and they allow you to override the settings Nvidia predefines for certain applications like FS.You're seeing higher performance in DX10 mode likely because most of these image quality enhancements that work in DX9 mode are disabled in DX10 mode.

I just edited the post and took out the old information. Just match what's in the screenshot in your own Nvidia Inspector, that's all you have to do.

I did this inspector thing and I can say the game feels more visually superior. Can't put my finger on it though..

Well it increases AA level significantly over what's possible otherwise, so that'd be a starting place. tongue.gif

Well, I'm using DX9 now with Ryan's NvidiaInspector settings and it's noticeably crisper and just prettier all around. Added in ENB and it really shines. But I definitely took a good 10 FPS hit making the switch. I'm seeing around 20 FPS sitting at the end of the runway at FS DreamTeam's Dallas Ft Worth with a complex airliner, REX textures, ASE, FSGenesis, and UTX. No traffic. Already applied NickN's setup. Just seems way too low for an overclocked 6 core 980x with two SSD drives and a GTX 570. Not sure what more you could do hardware-wise to get more FPS :( Guess I'll have to go looking for more places to tweak this weekend.
