September 13, 201015 yr I'd be interested in any comments on the Accusim products, and which plane you have tried it with. I see about 4 planes on the A2A site that have the Accusim enhancements. Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
September 13, 201015 yr Sure - I have 3 of them - in short, if only every aircraft made for FSX were like these! I simply thrive on the depth and reality accusim brings to FSX.Accusim introduces into FSX much as the real world would: consequences for mistakes. Leave it full throttle too long? Might just cook that engine!Cold outside? Better do the right things to get those engines started or it may be a lonnnng cold morning ahead :)There have been some really AWESOME aircraft released for FS over the years, but most if not all seemed so "sterile" and unbreakble. Not Accusim! Thanks A2A! Hope other devs follow this lead - I noticed that PMDG are starting to!

September 13, 201015 yr Thanks Kernel 32,I was hoping to find a good C172, but might try the Cub- looking forward to seeing how real these add-ons are. Thanks, Bruce. The Cub is a great experience. In the case of the Cub, Accusim isn't just about systems modeling - it's also about the way the aircraft interacts with the environment. Flight dynamics have been rewritten to replace some of the stock FSX approaches and allow for such details as airflow over the tail surfaces and the effect of wind direction on stall/spin behavior. Startups are different in different temperatures. The soundet also contributes - open a window or the door and you'll hear the wind so accurately you'll think you're there. Then there's the virtual passenger, Heidi, who's a whole different part of the experience. The Cub isn't at all like a 172, which is an airliner by comparison. But it's unparalleled for stick-and-rudder, seat-of-the-pants flying.A2A keeps refining Accusim. The first versions (Stratocruiser and P-47) were more about systems modeling. The more recent ones keep that but add atmosphere and details. The B-17 is remarkable in that it allows engine modeling down to the components (you'll have wear and tear on an individual cylinder, not just on the engine as a whole) and also for simplifying the task of flying a complex airplane by realistically offloading tasks (in particular, engine management) to a personality-rich AI co-pilot and crew. The crew simulation makes other aircraft seem sterile by comparison. In all, Accusim has spoiled a lot of old favorite aircraft for me. It's really a game-changer.If you're like me, you'll start with the Cub, then talk yourself into the P-47, then try out the B-17 even though you've always avoided complex multi-engine aircraft because of the workload...Short answer: give it a try. September 13, 201015 yr Indeed, start with the Cub. It's plenty complex for a GA aircraft. At least it's quite forgiving. The P47 is more "I'll bite your head off if you don't follow the checklists", so be prepared to be intimidated. IMO the Accusim range are the best addons ever made for FSX. You actually start to treat the planes with respect and face the consequenses if you don't. If that isn't "As real as it gets", then I don't know what is.

September 13, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the replies, you've convinced me to get the Cub.! I have several hundred hours in the C172 which is why I was looking for that bird, but the Cub sounds like a very realistic experience- besides I'll get to try tail-dragging :)Bruce. September 13, 201015 yr I own the Cub, P-47, and B-17. The P-47 is my favorite aircraft of any that I've flown. The P-47-20 being very forgiving compared to the -23 model which has far more horsepower. The neat thing about Accusim is that you have to stay ahead of the aircraft at all times. You can't just daydream as you fly as with most FSX aircraft.Rich
September 13, 201015 yr Moderator I'm really looking forward to their F-4 Phantom and P-51 Mustang.Drool! me too.I have to ditto the comments on the Cub and the B-17 - absolutely fun to fly!Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

September 13, 201015 yr Commercial Member We're big fans of these products at PMDG - Robert in particular loves old radial props and I know he was very impressed with the way A2A models that stuff. I have their Cub and I was pretty impressed with what they did myself too. One of these days I'll get around to trying the Stratocruiser, that one looks like a huge challenge. September 14, 201015 yr Who gave you all permission to do anything but hurry the release of the NG v2? :)
September 14, 201015 yr I own all 4 (377, 47, Cub, B17), and I feel all are excellent products that add a lot to the sim. The 377 and P-47 were especially painful to learn as I was always blowing up engines on the 377, and crashing the P-47 on landing.. The P-47 really is a touchy plane. Like said above cannot wait for the P-51 & F-4 Phantom.. Interesting to see PMDG enjoys the products as well. The Stratocruiser is definately a beast.. is very hard to try to manage the systems from the FE station on takeoff, while also simultaniously trying to takeoff.. Is why I am glad for the B-17 they at least let you hand off the RPM/Cowl Flaps/Intercooler Flaps to the Co-pilot. Makes managing takeoffs and inflight emergencies a lot easier not having to worry about those items. September 14, 201015 yr I also have their Piper Cub and really, really love the way it handles. I can say it is my favorite GA plane by far. Together with TrackIR, it really gives me the feeling of 'being there'. I think I should treat myself on their P-47 soon, from what I read here about her. And yes, I can't wait for their P-51 too!Nice compliment for A2A, PMDG liking their products a lot too. Lennart
