Would you accept Microsoft Flight to be subscription based?

  1. 1. Would you accept a subscription based MS Flight Simulator?

I voted no. Microsoft is the jack of all trades and master of none when it comes to FS. Their aircraft aren't as accurate as 3rd party ones. Their airport scenery is generic and lacks the local knowledge necessary for accuracy. Gary Summons took photographs of Manchester Airport to ensure a high level of accuracy in his scenery. Microsoft would never do that. The default ATC is poor compared to Radar Contact and hasn't really changed in several generations of FS. They could never do a job as well as the specialists who are the foundation of the pyramid on which FS sits.Microsoft has given us a decent base level of a simulator and it has been enhanced by experts all around the world. There's no way a small team of programmers at Redmond could match that let alone exceed it.I will never, ever sign up to subscription-based simulator. It's all about corporate greed and isn't in the best interest of the customer.

I call BS on all of you :) If FS11 shows up with great flight models, a multi player universe, real time dynamic weather that changes smoothly over time, great ATC including SIDS/STARS, good visuals with excellent performance on mortal hardware, an "app store" paradigm for purchasing payware add-ons, AND does it for a nominal monthly subscription, each one of you will buy it! EACH and EVERY one of you, and you'd be foolish not to. You can protest with some anti-capitalist proletariat rant if you like, but you know I'm right.Lunch is on me if proven wrong ;)

Technically, this isn't FS11. :(

Just to throw this in. I also am into racing simulators, first there was Grand Prix Legends, then Nascar 2003, Arca and now iRacing which is subscription based. It is very professional and was started by John Henry who owns the Boston Red Sox. They spent a lot of money making it extremely realistic and are regularly updating it with new content and improvements. It has become very popular worldwide and I think something of this sort might fly. (a little play on words) :(

BS eh? That's mature. Shame%20On%20You.gifWhy would Microsoft change the habits of a lifetime? You're living in dreamland if you think the above will happen. It won't. Add me to your lunch list. :(

Die hard flightsimmers will never spend a penny beyond the initial cost of the game! :( With anything, it comes down to what am I getting and for how much? It would have to be something spectacular to get me to pay and not just stick with FS9/FSX. Things like updated charts aren't even something all of us need or would bother to pay for. I really don't care if my approach chart is 4 years old (as long as the runway is still there of course!).Things just work better the way they are now, give people choices of what to buy and what not to buy.

This is a totally incorrect assumption .. no way you know what the entire enthusiast community will do.  If you would have just looked at the current poll results you would have seen that its all over the map.  :Rolling Eyes:Furthermore,  if you dont know the details how can you assume that a subscription server would take away your options?Lastly, "things just work better the way they are now"  is what people said before the invention of the telephone, airplane, automobile, etc, ... Just saying wait to you know more  :(

the map has three points of response and folks voted in all responses .....Initial guys comment suggests 100% in the no category.  PS ... i like your extra large NO ..

Yes, but! If you are not an active pilot paying already paying a subscription or your airline acquiring them then for most people they have to rely on slightly or largely out of date information.vololiberista
