fs9 Toolbox - Are you interested in new features?

Featured Replies

Hello,If you don't know fs9 Toolbox, it is a small add-on that adds some features to fs9 (more information here).I am planning to continue the development of this product, but I will do it only if some people are interested in some new features. So today the question is: Would you be interested in a load/save feature that lets you save and load the current settings? This feature exists in FSX, the goal is to do the same in fs9, letting you define some settings (display settings, sound settings, realism settings, ...), save them as a named configuration to let you load them later.Any feedback is greatly welcome. Thanks,Eric

Here are the other enhancements, some are in progress:
  • Set current time (developed)Lets you set the current system time in fs9
  • Sound Settings (developed)Get access to the sound settings to adjust the engine, ATC, environment sounds without needing to open the fs9 pulldown menus. I hate seeing FS pausing when I open the menus to get access to a function, especially when I fly in network. This is why I developed this.
  • Real-Time Settings (in progress)This lets you change some display/realism settings without opening the fs9 pull-down menus.
  • Settings Load/SaveThe feature I was telling you about, not developed yet.

Add my name to list of those interested in further development of the Toolbox. Thanks for what you do Eric. :(

Hi there,I`m interested in your fs9 toolbox and other ideas you may be working on.Dave :(

Eric: Would it be possible to save panned multiple windowed views? I run 4 monitors, 3 of which are for my 2 D cockpit view: left monitor is for Left Forward view, center monitor is for generic, Straight Forward, and the 3rd monitor is for the Right Forward view (the 4th monitor is simply where I drag the full 2D panel itself). All 3 view panels are initially straight forward views, and I simply pan the 1st and 3rd monitors in 45 degrees each, and then adjust up and down appropriately in order to line them up all nice and straight so that it appears that I am looking out one big forward wind screen. Otherwise I would have to spend hours editing the panel.cfg's for each and every aircraft in my FS9 collection until I got the views just right and that would take literally days to do (and then if one of my teenage sons were to bump my left or right monitor on the way to the refrigerator, as they often do, I would just have to kill him. Big%20Grin.gif )What I would REALLY appreciate is if someone could develop a utility to save my panned views for each monitor for each of my aircraft so that I didn't have to adjust them every single time I want to fly! My Go*, it's aggravating -- the slightest glitch in FS9, or bump to my desk that even slightly jostles my monitors and I have to basically start over. In the past, I've tried saving flights for each aircraft after I adjust views properly, but that is just as time consuming, as I would have to save a flight for every repaint I have for every aircraft -- but when you load up even a different paint the views go back to the default specified in the panel.cfg. Saving views in the default flight correctly doesn't help, either because when you load up a new A/C, FS9 has to, of course, load up a different panel.cfg with all new views, too. And if, for some reason I forget to turn the pitot heat or master avionics on (as I have them set in the default Cessna flight) . . . well, I'll never get my PMDG or iFly's to stay in the air! If someone could just do that, they might actually save a life . . . Thanks or letting me share . . .:((And thanks for all your work. I'm buying your utility when I get hom tonight, regardless.)

Chuck,I will see what I can do. It may be possible, but I can't promise anything before I do some tests.I really thought that saving the flight would be the solution, I thought you could load a flight and switch to another livery without losing everything, but I was wrong...To be sure I correctly understand your need, you would like to manually position every panel window on your monitors, then save the configuration to be bale to reuse it later. Am I right?Eric

That's it exactly, Eric. That's it exactly.Thank you for your time and effort, however it may turn out.

Thank you for your nice words :)This feature has been improved, it is now much more accurate and you can keep moving even when the mouse has reached the screen boundaries.Eric

Thanks for the clarification. I have asked the SimScape team to fix this, it should be OK now on the SimScape site as well.Eric
