Sadly, Virtavia is just another Alphasim scam.

Sorry didn't mean to come across so angry, normally I'm a fan of ANYTHING that people make freeware or payware, as its all art to me, but this one just leaves a bad taste in my mouthAlso disappointed that some major (and very respected) flightsim shops still support these fly-by-nighters, it only makes them look bad to be honestSheesh even a beta WIP VC cockpit would keep me happy

Yes, have to agree mostly. I'm so glad I resisted the temptation to purchase the C17 when it came out. I know that doesn't make anyone who bought it feel better though, sorry. It really looks like they've just washed there hands on the project and then thought a change of name would make it all go away. What bugs me some too is the way Virtavia is "releasing" stuff that is old like it's something new, come on they could at least say "re-releasing" or something to that effect. Look, I'm an FSX airplane junkie just like a lot of others here, but I don't think I'll be buying from these people, especially with all the great and reputable companies we have seen recently. Really is a shame though as far as the C-17, I help build the cargo ramp and door at Boeing in St. Louis so I was really hoping this would turn out differently.Steve

I remember seeing some vc screenshots a long time ago, I wonder if someone just left the team and took their own vc with them

I agree it is dissapointing. I worked on the FMC (MCC) and the EFIS displays for the C-17 (which has yet to be putinto the product presumably waiting for the VC version), and you're right one of the original developers pulled out when it was near completion. :(I still have that original early Beta VC version, even in that unfinished state, it was pretty sweet, it would have been a nice product and quite a few people would have been happy with it I believe. Its a real shame that version neversaw the light of day.Presumably the C-17 VC project is still alive, that's the answer I get every time I ask about it.I wish I had a better answer for you, but outside of those working directly on the VC, we're as clueless as everyone elseas to what is happening over there.BTW: I had the same issue with the BN-2 Islander. I Did the work on the KLN90 GPS , then nothing for like a year, the project seemed totally dead. Then out of the blue I get an email that Flight1 has it and they want to complete the bug fixing etc, it ends up getting released like 2 months later. But this C-17 VC we been waiting on for a really, really, really long time.I'm still hoping that VC version does get completed, but I agree that hope is pretty faint right now.Regards.Ernie.

I bought the Islander. Nice work.

It was fun working with you on the KLN! There are still some bugs in it that existed when I tested it. Dunno who did the testing at flight1 but... :(

Ernie,Is there a reason you haven't started your own development house yet? I think if you were at the reins, you might be able to control the productive use of your talent better. I see a pattern where your work for others is somewhat wasted when those projects are not optimally managed.Just a thought.

I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.

In my view Alphasim got lazy (and/or greedy) and started overpricing everything, not to mention the C-17. I dropped $38 for the EA-6B which doesn't even have wing views, which really are visible from the cockpit. Weird seeing nav lights hanging in mid-air. Ridiculous.

Don't get me started on the HU-16...

Ever since Phil Perrott's Alphasim sold trading rights to Virtavia and ceased all operations, nothing has been going right for some of Alphasim's now finished products. The B-1B Lancer, for example, had weapon switches that work, but didn't do anything with the bomb bays. In other words, none of the weapon sistems actually work. I also discovered that some others were only eye candy, they are clickable but have little or no functions at all. Some others however, actually work. Then there's the promised C-17 VC that never materiallized. Both companies made these promises to the C-17 but nothing came out of that. And even when the VC's released it's gonna be the same old mostly-eye-candy VC we have with Virtavia's products today. Oh well, guess I'm stuck with Mike Stone's C-17 for now. This is what I've been concerning about Alphasim's and Virtavia's products so far. They have meticulous detail to aircraft and virtual cockpits, but when it comes to systems this is where their products really go downhill, most of the stuff are actually cosmetic. The only thing that was good so far was definitely the F-111 Aardvark, of which was easily enhanced with the cockpit by Steve Hess, but I do not think that I really should modify aircraft upon purchasing these products. What I did eventually enjoy however, was this freeware Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5A from AS that had meticulous detail everywhere, and since it is a WWI aircraft that didn't actually need much to tweak within the cockpits to startup, it became an excellent VFR flying aircraft. Consequently, the other AS and Virtavia products are no better when compared towards today's freeware. So, yes, with the exception of the Canberra they have, of which has an interesting and fair share of repaints, which gives a full hangar in my FSX fleet, I won't be buying anymore of Virtavia's products. Furthermore, I'll be switching from their Tornado F.3s this weekend to the freeware Iris Tornado. I'm not saying that this is one typical Abacus crap, but the lack of important systems is one thing that I have concerned so far. I really wanted that actual-firing missle I've found with Patrice Grange's Mirage IIIC/E "Les Chevaliers du Ciel" package, and especially VRS' F/A-18E Superbug. Dave.
