November 1, 201015 yr Looking at the 707 "demo" that captainsim is offering, I dont know why anyone would even download it. Nothing works. How can you even fly it? These people make some good stuff but the disconnection between their potential customer base and what these folks think is marketing is huge.I think they mean well here, but if CS wants to give away a "demo" then they are going to have to allow people to actually fly and enjoy the airplane on at least some level. Frankly with this demo, I'd rather go get a fully functioning free 707 at Historical Flight Group. Just my 2.3 cents (US).Eric AND
November 2, 201015 yr Eric, I have to say I completely agree with you. When I first saw that they offer demo's for their products I thought what a great and unique idea. Then I saw "no FDE included" and my jaw dropped. I have seen the 757 fly in videos of youtube etc and am not completely satisfied with what I saw. Then I saw that they released the 767 and would love to buy it, but I can only presume that it shares the same flaws as the 757 and without a "flyable" demo I will wait patiently and hope Level-D will update their 767. :Thinking:However saying that I can only imagine that a fully flyable demo product is a software pirates wet dream and it wouldnt surprise me that this is why they don't include the FDE.Still though, no other developer releases demo's for their aircraft, and personally I think that it would be a good idea, if it were safe! November 2, 201015 yr I agree with you. I was going to try it out, but then saw the list of things that will not work in the demo. One of the things not in the demo is this.• No Flight Model (flight controls locked in the Demo)How is one supposed to try it out when the flight controls are locked? I guess you are just supposed to look at the model.
November 2, 201015 yr This sounds like my post:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/315060-cs-707-demo/Eric, I agree with your post completely. The Demo is somewhat pointless since it doesn't seem to "Demo" anythig. lol Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
November 2, 201015 yr Hey, guys, you almost made me believe there is a new 707 for FS9 to try out...! :(
November 2, 201015 yr Much better name for this thing will be "100% incomplete & Useless 707-Free to try Pay to buy". :( My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....
November 2, 201015 yr Hey, guys, you almost made me believe there is a new 707 for FS9 to try out...! :(Yes I also couldn't figure out what this discussion was all about, luckily CS warn you:Please do not install the Free Demo if you already have the 707 Captain product installed. You will see nothing new but damage your original installation.\And since I have the 707 installed ... I was saved from following this misinformation!
November 3, 201015 yr Author Guys, I do not want to turn this into an anti captainsim thread. I really like their products and their clearly immense talent. I just think they need to trust the customer base a bit more and if they want to release a demo actually give up some product features to the potential customer to try out. We're not all pirates and cheap skates. Im inclined to pay MORE to development teams that get me excited. An old maxim in gaming...get the customers emotion and his wallet comes with it. E AND
November 3, 201015 yr I appreciate the moderation of what you said above "E." Captain Sim have given an enormous amount to the hobby going back to their fabulous Mig21 in FS2000 days and IMHO do not deserve the attacks they have often got here on the forum. (Some of them have been incredibly bitter and just plain nasty) :( I think we can achieve a lot more with civility and respect in encouraging developers to give us the kinds of products we want.Clearly in this case they tried to offer something that maybe hasn't worked out, but they deserve credit for trying. (It's not new BTW, you may remember they did the same thing with their C130)... I guess their idea was that potential customers might want to at least take a look at some of what they will get, even if they can't fly it. (Instead of just looking at screenies that might have been doctored)...If I was an FSX person, I would want to buy their 707 based on the fabulous screen shots and the enjoyment I still occasionally get from their now very old FS9 707. If they offered a new FS9 version I'd grab it in a minute - "demo" or not. Just my two cents worth...

It is a FSX product! I am flying FS9, so it isn't of interest to me. I like the CS FS9 products, even the old Mig-21. It's Soviet AF camo painting is a marvel, out of all comparison.Hugo
