http://www.x-plane.com/pg_news.htmlLame. But, then, how many aircraft pictures do we need to see, anyway?
How is it "lame?" This is a good thing because it means that a beta version (which I remember hearing they wanted done in early November) is close to completion! No more XP9 pics with some nicer XP10 aircraft or buildings. It will actually be XP10! So... how is this lame? But yah, those airplane pics were getting a bit old.

This means RC won't be ready by DEC.I give it 4 to 6 months...

I always heard that the first version of a new XP release is basically a release candidate. I could be wrong though. Anyway, if they are merely compiling the various bits right now and have a beta in a week for example, they can start putting that on discs right now as the beta and RC happen. Then, when the discs could go on sale in very late December, and there could be an update waiting as soon as it is installed. I still think that they will be releasing something in December.

I'm saying "lame" because, simply put, while better looking aircraft are fine, we already have better looking airplanes that seem to be working just fine in XP9. The few scenery shots we've seen are great. But there are too few. I don't know whose idea the Tuesdays were, but maybe the "retraction" is partly because of the work apparently now being done by Microsoft.Either way... didn't need to see more planes. I didn't look to see if there is a similar discussion going on over at .org.Cheers,Andrew

Austin releases betas and RC's throughout the update cycle of the version that is currently on the market. If they are assembling the individual parts of the simulator now, that means release is imminent.I give it 4 to 6 WEEKS.

The only thing that has to be 100% is the scenery files at this point. The rest can easily be replaced at any time.

Over on flightsimulatorxworld, they are saying that this is a scenery screenshot from XP10. I haven't seen this shot anywhere else, but if that is the case, then I am very very much looking forwards to this release.

What work at Microsoft? MS Flight? I doubt that would stop Austin and the rest. For one thing, Flight wont be out for quite some time. And second, if development of MSFS or MS Flight was enough for them to stop, they would have stopped making XP a long time ago! They are just trying to get some interest going.... and all of these posts prove that it is working.

I agree. It looks nothing like the XP10 scenery development shots.

Early development to just-about-done in two weeks? I don't think so. Right now, if they really are about to go to press on it, it looks like X-Plane 10 is just updated lights, "autogen", objects, and aircraft, with AI aircraft "running on their own CPU".Austin's pretty down on orthophotos, but I like my TileProxy just fine, thanks. Keeping my fingers crossed.

How many screenshots of mountains, roads, cars and buildings do you want to see?

"How many screenshots of mountains, roads, cars and buildings do you want to see? "In case you're asking me: More than 6.By the way - poor question. Think about what you're asking next time.

FYI, I wasn't asking you. Maybe some of you should think about the statements you post before creating pure speculation. A question is a request for validation or truth. Regardless of another persons opinion on its quality.Poor question? Possibly. In your mind. Strider, who is not on the x plane development team, has his own idea on when X Plane is going to be finished. I know 2 developers who are working on it and I have a few other ideas on when it will be finished.By the way, poor opinion on your part. Think about what you're saying next time.
