Beta Testers Needed (Shader Mod w/ auto Installer)

Featured Replies

I just finished setting up an auto installer for the Shader 3 Mod. Among the 'enhancements' this installer provides:1) Shader 3 Mod automated installation (no need to clear cache or update fsx.cfg options) the installer takes care of this for you2) Updated WaterConstants.Xml file3) Critical fsx.cfg modifications for stability/performance including: The vSync FIX and HIGHMEMFIX among others.4) The 'Shaders' are 'exactly' the same as in the v1.5 release, so if you already have them and your WaterConstants.Xml file is up to date there is no need to beta test this.if you have always wanted to try the shader mod but did not understand the instructions or had problems making it work, this will surely help you. The autoinstaller takes care of everything for you, including adding critical entries to your fsx.cfg file automatically, it's basically point and click. The installer also includes a 'remove' option, so you can revert back to your previous shaders automatically in just one click.I have tested the installer in Windows 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit, so I would like testers with Vista 32/64 and/or Windows XP 32/64 drop me a line at [email protected] if you are interested, I want to test it privately before releasing it on the AVSIM File library.P.D Evidently, this will work best if you have no tweaks and/or the Shader 3 Mod installed, that way you'll clearly see a before and after comparison of the massive performance boost this package provides. Thanks,
*******.... Whenever this installer becomes available what would bw the correct way to run this software....brefore adding any addons, or after all addons have been installed such as REX, airplanes...etc..etc.?Thanks,John

the correct way to run this software....
It won't matter. You can do it at the beginning, after a fresh install of FSX+SP2/Accel or after installing all your add-ons. no conflicts of any kind. The Shader mod only 'conflict' is with the FSWC (water configurator) all other add-ons, including REX, PNW, Flytampa/FSDreamTeam airports etc work perfect, no issues.

Hi *******,The information regarding the ENBseries bug is very interesting and your efforts in getting this resolved will be appreciated as I also like the bloom effect. Do you know if the ENBseries developer is still active?Paul

He is not. The only way to fix it is to do a hex edit. The change is actually very 'trivial' it only requires to pass a different value to a function. It basically requires to change a 4 with a 5 ;) the problem is to find the exact address to do this. I already asked for help to a very skilled D3D programmer in our forums ;) 'Daniel42' lets see...

*******,The installer works great. I don't know what you have done or how you have done it, but the results are magnificent. Even though my computer has the right stuff and is setup properly with the most proven effective settings and tweaks, this program of yours adds a whole new level of sophistication along with an extra margin of frames per second. I am once again most impressed with your positive impact on this flight sim community. I love it!Thank you old friend!Kind regards,

Glad to hear :)The 'tweaks' I was 'adding' are now going to be an OPTIONAL step (they will be located in the program folder in your start menu). Some of the BETA testers were not pleased with the FACT (regardless of impact) is the simple fact that I was updating/changing something with my OWN settings assuming theirs were wrong ;) So, this new version will NOT be including the tweaks as an automated step, but as something you do AFTER the install is finished and ONLY if you want to (they are completely optional)Of of 4:30PM today all the reports I've received from the testers were positive, so I'm doing now a public BETA release for everyone who whishes to test. REMEMBER, you DONT NEED THIS PACKAGE if you already have the latest 1.5 (Performance edition) version.. this is exclusively for those who DO NOT have or had problems installing the original Shader 3 Mod, this is simply an automated package installer. In the readme file you'll find inside the package you'll see a detailed list of ALL the things the installer does, don't worry.. Like most of youI'm wary of 'installers' so I took special care in making this one 'clean' with no registry entries, or files left in your HD after un-install. Even your fsx.cfg is left as it was before. Enjoy:http://www.venetubo.com/sha3mod.zip

Shader settings will not help you change the colors. For that you need REX. The only things you can change are reflections, wave height, wave direction, sea movement (speed) etc. etc. The readme contains a detailed explanation on how to do this.

In REX you can adjust color/contrast etc for Inland, Ocean and Tropical water.I made for each one a darker version, saved them as Shader 3 and loaded them so when using Shader 3 it looked normal.

Hi there,I tested it with W7-64bit and WXP 32 bit without any problems. It installs and backups nicely and upon deinstalling it rolls back the default stuff nicely. I only wish for some option menu to choose to install eg the waterconstants.xml or not.Nice work *******!

Hi Gerard,What do you mean you saved the new darker water textures as Shader 3? Do you mean just the name you gave them when you saved them within the REX control panel, or what? Thanks...Kind regards,
