least the very professional point of view that people who update regulary are stupid (thanks to freebird77 for this very special insight about your pro-ish viewpoint). So there's quite some amount of data to process in my eyes. :(
No one said anything about regular updates! What was suggested here is what is normal everyday practice by every IT admin worth his salt and any sane pc enthusiast and that was simply to use good Caution. Chill!

I double your words, Tierborn, it could and most final versions actually do. But one has to accept careful approaches of course and as long as nobody calls the other side "stupid", both variants are perfectly acceptable. As both procedures run the risk of causing trouble if they are applied across-the-board, one has to develop a bias to stay flaw-free and feature (and performance)-rich.As you saw, speaking of an anxiety was a mistake and lead to inappropriate wording of one guy who feels very smart when affronting others. Clever, huh?
You have to remember that this forum reaches many people in many countries with a broad range of computer experience. There are those who *blindly* apply every tweak and update as soon as they see it - usually resulting in a fouled up system. As someone else mentioned, if one has been around long enough they might recall some of the early DX update disasters which resulted in a LOT of format & reinstalls.Maybe it was not what you intended but I also read your post and felt that it implied "go ahead and update, it must be good or they wouldn't have released it". If that is so then I don't believe this is a wise suggestion. Thinking of the newbies, it could be dangerous. I'm guessing this is what was being suggested by an earlier poster.I've been a consultant for over 20 years and I've made a lot of $$ fixing systems that system crashes because of update issues so a little "anxiety" is probably a good thing.A good rule of thumb - if it's a critical system update (usually security) - go for it. If it's anything else, including DX - follow the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it rule".Vic

I felt my posts were quite professional and offered a topical viewpoint of the updates offered by the original poster. I made no attack of anyone and merely offered another perspective to the idea of applying released updates. I think over my two contributions to this thread (now a third) I've accurately depicted my thoughts and advice based on my experiences, and everyone is free to disregard them as they see fit. Remember, not every viewpoint has to be in line with those of the masses. Sometimes an alternate perspective can be helpful.

slait, no problem here on your words and I only spoke about my viewpoint in relationship to yours.I couldn't find abusive or "stupid" things in your posts and therefor my later sentence

was mentioned. The other guy lacks of arguments but offers some inappropriate language instead, so that was my latest concern here. No problem with you. :smile:I really hope we can eventually close this special thing as it has been proven to not update anything Fsx related. So we are currently stuck at different viewpoints about update policies and I don't see a reason to blindly follow advises spoken in some forums. As far as I remember, people all over the planet use a brain to think about their actions and therefor even if I had stated the general advise "go for it at all costs" (which I did not), one will be able to think about this being wise or not.It might be that there were some bad stories about some faulty updates around but if we all would concentrate on those, progress would be very hard to reach, IT-wise or in generalSo I hope the guys being careful at updates feel some relief while the fast updaters do too because they've already clicked "next".

CoolP,I applologize for my over the top remarks, was taken back a bit by what I perseved as downtalking, if I took things the wrong way and overreacted, CoolP, guys, I'm sorry.I was just trying to be the voice of reason, not trying to be malicious.

Agreed, acknowledged, forgiven. :( Viewpoints will never be a problem in forums of any kind, but harsh words always will. As it takes some guts to apologize: you're welcome.
