December 10, 201015 yr Hi, try Defraggler from Piriform http://www.piriform.com/defraggler . I defrag my pc every week, the progremm works realy nice and stable. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
December 11, 201015 yr Commercial Member I'm very much sold on Ultimate Defrag 3 now - there's nothing else out there like it. Full control over exactly which files go where and in which order. It's awesome. It was actually designed by a simmer too (Robert Ferraro at PC Aviator). I've since uninstalled both Perfect Disk and O&O. Megascenery, etc... I've had nothing but problems with it, though I was on VISTA at the time. :(I'm now on Windows 7 and made a HUGE improvment alone. When I tried to Name/File and also frequenctly used options e.g. used within the last 90 days outer tracks and less used on inner tracks. Anyway, it just became an increadible mess. My system came to an absolute crawl and It would take 3 mins to open up internet explorer.Any suggestions? Thanks,BillyBob BillyBob David M. December 12, 201015 yr Commercial Member File/Folder mode and I went into the settings and manually configured the High Performance and Archive folder order. It's just like O&O's Complete/NAME with the added benefit that you can choose the exact order of the folders, it doesn't have to be alphabetical. So I can have FSX first, then Starcraft II, then Steam or whatever I want, not the alphabetical that you're limited to in O&O. UD3 has a very cool Simulation mode too so you can set up your options and then virtually do the defrag in a few seconds to see what the drive layout will end up looking like. Makes it very easy to see if your settings are going to do what you're expecting. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

I have a Dell insprion 530 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6660 2.4 GHZ. I've ordered Artic Freeze cooler from new egg to install. How do I overclock it? I would assume to go into the bios and change things. Any suggestions on how to overclock this rig. I see on the web this system is stable with an overclock to 3.0GHZ. I'm just worried I'm going to blow it out with changing things in the bios and not knowing what I'm doing. Is there any good web sites that show how to do this? Thanks,BillyBob BillyBob David M. December 12, 201015 yr I usually use jkdefrag, it is small, free, no install can be run from command line so you can even have a task to run it automatically, it it is efficient, maybe not as much as the big ones but still good enough for me :) Aurelien Vandoorine
December 12, 201015 yr Sorry Ryan,I've got a Dell. Just found out they don't allow bio editing. LOL BB BillyBob David M. December 29, 201114 yr File/Folder mode and I went into the settings and manually configured the High Performance and Archive folder order.Old topic, but still a very relevant one with good advice. Just curious Ryan, but do you still use Ultimate 3, and do you still do as quoted above? I got it on sale a few days ago for $14.99. I don't have the passion of digging through the manuals with software like this as I do the sims, but I have been digging. I'm having a hard time with some things and it seems to want to always defrag all 4 of my drives and not sure why. The main thing though is after using O&O for the last year or so, I'm trying to regroup and relearn this. I'm really liking the folder choosing method over O&O's abc's, although, I didn't know that's what "Archive" meant until now. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

January 2, 201214 yr I've been working on a mini tutorial series of some FSX related things and others as well. Trying to take advantage of my fresh install and showing some little things here and there for windows tweaks, the importance of certain settings, UAC, group polocies etc... They still aren't edited and only rushed this one yesterday to answer a question on my forum about Ult3. The developer has some videos on it, but they're pretty awful. No mic, not even text so it's easy to walk away only more frustrated (Like EZCA's tutorials where people just wave their mouse cursor and hope you understand). This video is currently unlisted but as with the paint tutorial, will become listed (Public) once the others are done. I figured I'd just post this here since I don't think there's any reason to start a thread on it.Here tiz: Edited January 2, 201214 yr by Turbine777 i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

I also have UD 3, and last time I defragged FSX, I regretted it, and again, I do. I just defragged, using the following settings:Defrag mode: FOLDER/FILENAMEOptions: checked: respect high performance respect archive put directories close do MFTUnchecked: complete high performance then stopSettings:High performance -> Custom -> Select Files -> C:/FSXStrict placement sorted by: Folder/Filename - AscArchive:Automatic: 50% least frequently used dataVery fast placement (may leave small disk spaces) accidently left it on this, my mistake.Respect Layout.iniI understood what you said about Respect Layout.ini, but still I'm not sure wether to use it for FSX or not. After defragging, the outer edge of my HDD was mostly magenta (high performance), but there were also some locked files (grey). Most of this out space was FSX, but not everything. The inner part of my HDD (close to the center), was mostly my OS, but there were also some FSX directories there! After starting up FSX, it did definately not improve FPS, also it increased stutters. again, I regret it. But probably it's all my own fault, therefore I hope that you can help me, because there are some questions that I'm having. For succesful drefragmentation of FSX...: - Should I use Asc or Desc for the High Performance and Archive section?- Should I check "Respect Layout.ini" or not? - What settings should i use in the archive section? Automatic or Custom (and then again choose C:FSX)? And should I choose fast placement, very fast placement, or strict placement for the Archive section? And Asc or Desc?I hope you can help me! Afterwards I'll defrag again! complete archive then stop Arjen Vandervelde
