December 16, 201015 yr Hi there,My parcel left Chicago on the 10th at 12:57 am, and now the tracking has just stopped, don't know where it is, USPS aren't very good with tracking. :( What was the £40 for, VAT, Duty or both? Many ThanksMark Marshall
December 16, 201015 yr They're not shipped as 'books' but 'photocopies' according to the docs I received with mine. There was nothing to pay on mine either (same as Chris Pawley above), UK also. That's not the Rob Bates I knew at GM Luton I hope, I'm hiding if it is.No although strangely I used to live very near there!!!!Mark: Mine too. Left at the same time as yours, and I have no word of it. December 16, 201015 yr ^ Ditto here as well. I ordered a bunch if stuff from the US on the 4th Dec and that only arrived today. It was sent by USPS. They updated the status on the web page after I had received it! Ed Haslam
December 17, 201015 yr This morning I officially gave up hope of a delivery by Christmas.:( Rob BatesSimming since the age of 10 with MSFS 5.0 P3D v5.0 | 10700K (@stock) | EVGA GTX1080Ti SC2 | Z490-E ROG STRIX | 32GB 3600MHz | 970 EVO Plus M.2 & EVO 850 SSDs | H115i cooling | NZXT H440 Case | Samsung 32" CJG 1440p Curved Monitor | Virtual-Fly Ruddo & TQ3+ | Thrustmaster FCS Sidestick | Skalarki MCDU Ask me about (my most flown): FSLabs A320-X series | MaddogXIn the hangar: Majestic Q400 Pro | PMDG 747 | A2A C182, Cherokee, Comanche & Spitfire
December 17, 201015 yr Can't see it myself either. The weather is set to get worse this weekend too. Ed Haslam
December 17, 201015 yr Author Have you guys sent Parcelforce an email query via their website. This is what I did over the weekend and to my shock they replied. This is how I found out the cost. Chris Farrell
December 17, 201015 yr Yeh mine is awaiting response. Its only been 4 days...... :( Rob BatesSimming since the age of 10 with MSFS 5.0 P3D v5.0 | 10700K (@stock) | EVGA GTX1080Ti SC2 | Z490-E ROG STRIX | 32GB 3600MHz | 970 EVO Plus M.2 & EVO 850 SSDs | H115i cooling | NZXT H440 Case | Samsung 32" CJG 1440p Curved Monitor | Virtual-Fly Ruddo & TQ3+ | Thrustmaster FCS Sidestick | Skalarki MCDU Ask me about (my most flown): FSLabs A320-X series | MaddogXIn the hangar: Majestic Q400 Pro | PMDG 747 | A2A C182, Cherokee, Comanche & Spitfire
December 17, 201015 yr Author OK, I actually went in person to Parcelforce without a customs invoice and paid and collected the manuals. The charge was actually £32, which was VAT and Collection fee - oh well! paid and I'll forget about it.Am I allowed to be critical here?Upon opening the box, WOW there is a lot of information here, great! I guess this is what we are paying for. Q/C issues:Packing needs to addressed, the manuals move freely within the box.My manuals were filthy, maybe from customs, but it looks like production residue/crop particles interlaced between pages. Not really a problem as I've already cleaned them, took 5 minutes. OK, my real issue is this, given the cost, for £250 +£32 I was expecting better print quality. The text is OK but the images and diagrams are poor, in my opinion, there's no consistent black and it looks like they were running out of ink or toner. I have seen better photocopies than this - Am I allowed to show a jpeg? - if you like PMDG I can send you direct to show you as you may not be aware of this issue.. Flight Crew Ops VOL1 and Flight Crew Training are worst affected, FCO VOL2 is better but still has issues.Colour upgrade = $60? I think it needs to clear what this actually is as I am looking at coloured logos, some background colour , highlights and the occasional overhead light reference etc. Worth it? Well, the quality is very good, uummm 50/50Like I said, there IS MASSES of info here, which I will enjoy, so thank you PMDG for your hard work, however, they are only slightly let down by my above issues. Overall, I'm pleased. Chris Farrell
December 18, 201015 yr That's sad to hear given the money paid and the long wait. I seem to remember reading a post from another forum member who had received a poorly printed manual. It was due to printer problems at the factory. It might be worth getting them replaced by PMDG if they are not up to the mark? Ed Haslam
December 18, 201015 yr Author Yes, it is disappointing. I have sent Ryan some images as I'm not sure if it normal or not.If a replacement is offered, I think I will only require the pages which have images as there is no need for replacement folders etc, Having said that, I haven't had a response from Ryan so I'm not sure this is an option. December 18, 201015 yr Not really an UK issue, because i waiting in Italy (yeah, i know, the black sheep of the international shipping...)...My set left Chicago on the 13th, at 12:00am, regarding USPS Tracking Infos...I know also that this period is one of the worst for shipping something (Christmas, holdays, etc...) but i'm wondering if anyone have manuals shpped from Chicago the same day...Just to have an idea if the weather or the holidays are making this wait almost infinite...(Ordered on the 9th, shipped on the 10th and left USA on the 13th...aftar that, no news at all...)Cheers Paolo Fumagalli "Everyday is a new flight, with new system to learn, new failures to prevent and new database to update..."
December 18, 201015 yr Commercial Member Gents-For those who are monitoring shipping, a few observations we've had after working with this for a few years:1) If you want guaranteed, time sensitive delivery, please use the FEDEX shipping options. They are more expensive- but you get much better service than the parcel post options.2) If you have selected parcel post, the package will be delivered by the USPS to the customs receiving station closest to you. (Note: Most USPS international packages are actually carried out of the USA on FedEx aircraft, so they tend to wind up in customs at the fedex inbound city nearest to you...) Once offloaded, it is handed over the to USPS customs receiving agent, and is then turned over to customs in your country. Customs in our country may/may-not add a clearance fee depending upon your local rules, and then one of a few things can happen, depending on your country's postal policies: The parcel is delivered to you normally (sometimes with a customs fee collection, again- depending on your local rules.) The parcel is turned over to a third party parcel service (such as Parcel Force) who is then responsible for delivery. The parcel may reach your local postal office where it will sit, awaiting someone to collect the customs fee, if applicable. Since we do not know what happens in every country- if your tracking information stops getting updated and you haven't received the item, we strongly encourage you to reach out to your local postal authority and inquire as to what you should expect and what action you might need to take.I wish we could offer you more information, but obviously, PMDG hasn't taken over the postal services of your country- so it isn't something we control! As always- if you have questions not answered above we encourage you to open a support ticket, but please keep in mind that we won't know much more than you do once the item lands "in country." Thanks RobertI was using this thread to benchmark my expectations of delivery timings with others, and certainly am not blaming PMDG for anything. I am sure my parcel will turn up safe and sound soon. Thanks for taking the time out to offer adviceCheersRob Rob BatesSimming since the age of 10 with MSFS 5.0 P3D v5.0 | 10700K (@stock) | EVGA GTX1080Ti SC2 | Z490-E ROG STRIX | 32GB 3600MHz | 970 EVO Plus M.2 & EVO 850 SSDs | H115i cooling | NZXT H440 Case | Samsung 32" CJG 1440p Curved Monitor | Virtual-Fly Ruddo & TQ3+ | Thrustmaster FCS Sidestick | Skalarki MCDU Ask me about (my most flown): FSLabs A320-X series | MaddogXIn the hangar: Majestic Q400 Pro | PMDG 747 | A2A C182, Cherokee, Comanche & Spitfire
December 18, 201015 yr Author If it's any help maybe try to call your local depot, for me, the London Parcelforce Depot was very helpful and friendly :( 0844 209 6100. You never know, explain the situation and they may have news for you. Worth a shot.EDIT: still no response from Ryan regarding the quality of my manuals. Have you had the chance to review them?:) Chris Farrell
