December 22, 201015 yr Guys,Mine arrived in Spain this morning with no extra charges.I have literally finished my olive harvest today but have managed to have a quick flick through the manuals. I echo what Chris has said. Whilst I am pleased to have them in my hands now and I will be able to read and digest them, the print quality is poor for the price paid. Not only on the images but on many of the page headings. They are still usable though and I am glad I have them.I reckon that because PMDG are giving the NGX the used and worn look, they are trying to carry on the theme with the manuals!!!!!!All the best for Christmas by the way to you all.Cheers - Gary Gary Buss
December 22, 201015 yr Author Hi GaryDespite 'the issues' I am, again, pleased you received them before Christmas, at least that's one less thing to worry about. Chris Farrell
December 22, 201015 yr Author As PMDG has said the quality is within their quality control limits and is standard for their publications there should, therefore, be no problems showing you what we have received. This is what to expectOn the left is the colour QRH and on the right is an example of the quality found throughout Vol1 and the Flight Crew Training manual, Vol2 is not as bad but the issues are still there to a lesser extend. December 24, 201015 yr Ladies and GentsMy chief pilots manuals have also arrived here in the uk, and I too can confirm the same print issues that others have echoed. FCOM1 is the worse, 2 isnt so bad and the training manual also has issues, the QRH is fine.I have read TABS comment on the other post regarding better than the real thing, but if thats the case then how can each of the manuals be of a different print quality, or as some have stated the FCOM1 does almost look like a photo copy with the toner running out! surely whatever quality they "should" be should be consistant throughout? As soon as I can I will be submitting a support ticket for this issues, but as it now seems that a large quantity of us are having the same issue, then I feel PMDG should address this more publicly with what they plan to do, as I feel if this problem isnt addressed it could effect further sales of the manuals. At present for the high price of these manuals, I would suggest that anyone considering buying them holds off till this issue has been addressed by PMDG.Although the content of the manuals is amazing, like others I feel somewhat annoyed that having paid for superior printing, I could have in fact got better quality in some of the manuals, by actually printing them myself from a PDF, something everyone will be able to do when the plane is finally released. So to have paid such a high price, the quality isnt really acceptable in some of the manuals.Regards Regards James Carr
December 24, 201015 yr Hi everyone,Just to let you know, I finally received my cheif pilot manual set today after leaving the USA 14 days ago, WOOOOW! . Long journey. Hmmmm what to read first. Also I was lucky, I didnt get charged anything from parcelforce, not vat or duty or pick up charge.About the print quality of FCOM 1, after having a quick look, it looks fine to me, images are fine, easy to read. FCOM 2 is fine too, there are a couple of bits on the images, still easily readable.Everything else is fine. Hope everyone who has the problem with FCOM 1 & 2 get it sorted. Thanks PMDG for a top quality job. :( Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.Mark Marshall
December 25, 201015 yr Commercial Member I got my captains set for Christmas and it looks GREAT. All graphics are clearly visible and print quality is fine. Of course before I got the manuals I felt I would be able to be patient for the release, but now, I'm not sure I can wait :) This is going to be a beauty to learn to fly. Noah Bryant
December 26, 201015 yr I can safely say that I spent most of yesterday with my nose in all the manuals only coming out for snack on a turkey sandwich and a cup of tea. I mentioned in a previous post that the end of the box had been damaged, to the printers credit they did a sterling job of packing the manuals as they were all in perfect condition. There is a noticeable difference in the black background colour in FCOM Vol 1 and 2 when compared to the other manuals but all info is still perfectly clear. I only have a very minor gripe which is that the outer cover on the FCOM Vol 2 is listed as the FCOM for the 747. Rest assured all documentation inside is for the 737. To correct this I will simply scan the Vol 1 picture and apply a bit of “hocus-pocus” is photoshop, job done and I will move up from being happy to being ecstatic. Well done on the publications PMDGJustin P Justin Paull
December 30, 201015 yr FYI - mine were delivered on 9th December (FedEx priority service thingy) and I have just this minute (30th Dec) received an invoice from FedEx. Customs assessed the shipment value at £62.81 so I've been invoiced for VAT of £10.99 and Fedex have charge an Advancement Fee (because they paid the VAT on my behalf before billing me) of a further £10.So, UK chaps like meself who thought they'd got away without paying any extra, check your letterbox any day now for a bill for £20.99 (for a Captains Set). Quite reasonable compared to some of the 'extras' that some people have been lumped with. Bill Casey
