NAV display shows runways in true heading

Featured Replies

Hello,I suddenly experienced this problem with the MD-11. Everything has worked fine previously, but now for some reason the runways displayed on the ND are always pointing to the true heading, meaning they are always some degrees off of the actual heading.I'm confused as to what could cause this problem. Any ideas/experience?

Any chance of a screen shot?

Paul Smith.

Also is this FS9 or FSX? How about tracking in flight? Any other magdev related observations?

Hi guys,Here's a screenshot. In the pictures the aircraft is aligned with the runway that has a heading of approximately 081 degrees. No other observations with the magnetic tracks whatsoever, just the runways are now always pointing to the "true" heading. In the 747 this problem doesn't occur.

The runway symbol shown on the ND comes from the navdata file wpNavAPT.txt where the lat/lon position of the runway is plotted. The heading/bearing information comes from the MSFS. Odd.Try running the registry repair tool free from Flight1. Be sure to run 'as admin' if using Vista/W7.

Hi Dan,I tried running the tool. Didn't do anything. I have also checked the wpNavAPT.txt and all the runway headings there are correct. What leaves me completely baffled is why the MD-11 doesn't show it right anymore. :(

Just repeating Dan's question:FS9 or FSX.Regards,Harry

Hi,I'm running FSX.

A shot in the dark: Turn off all add-on scenery using the scenery library manager. This does not uninstall the files, so it is easy to turn back on. See if that makes a diff.

How do you get the heading number to display between 'HDG' and 'MAG'? All I get is a white line.

Thanks Harry!

Just out of interest, does this happen at all airports or only at Vancouver as in the screen shot?

Hello,It happens at all airports.I have now pinpointed the problem to 3 add-ons. It happens after installing either Reality XPs GNS500 or WX500, or after installing EZdok camera addon. However, uninstalling all of them does not remove it anymore, but I have to reinstall the whole OS and FSX (with all addons) to get it working again. One of these addons tampers with either the PMDG MD-11 or FSX in a way that causes this problem.I wonder if PMDG is aware of this?

Antti, full names here please.I think your question is 'how can I fix this' rather than 'will PMDG fix others problems?' Most likely the other add-ons are leaving a flaw in the registry, have you tried the registry repair tool (run as admin)??
