January 9, 201115 yr Now that I have a faster video card, I am finding that I can fly with LOD=5.5, rather thanthe FSX default high setting of 4.5I recall someone working on a tool to set this, in some other way than editing the fsx.cfg file -which then gets reset by FSX if you change any other in-game setting.Did this ever come to fruition? January 9, 201115 yr Bert,I guess this is the utility: http://www.frostysoftware.com/Click the link Texture Max Load EditorHi Ulf,How would you rate the TML editor, is it a must have? Do you notice a difference with this installed into FSX? \Robert Hamlich/
January 9, 201115 yr Author Bert,I guess this is the utility: http://www.frostysoftware.com/Click the link Texture Max Load EditorI guess that is the program, but unfortunately it does not do what I would like, although it is close.I'm trying to fix the LOD setting, this program will fix the Texture Max Load setting :( Bert
January 9, 201115 yr Cant you just tweak by editing the cfg then never change the ingame settings afterwards?

January 10, 201115 yr Bert, This page is in German ,but FlusiFix06 might be what you're looking for. It's what I use when I make adjustments to my config file.http://www.wolfgang-picheta.de/
January 10, 201115 yr Well, this may not be an automated fix but I occasionally use this quick METHOD.Save current configuration as "Current.cfg" - this is the 38 or so items that are normally saved using Options-Settings-Save. Will be in same folder as other saved configs, flights, and flight plans.Create a link to it on desktop.open and edit LOD_Radius section(or whatever) manually, and save.reload into FSX: Options-Settings-LoadLOD radius 5.5 or texture load or max texture levels etc. restored without shutdown.May not work with every feature, but certainly worth trying.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

January 10, 201115 yr There was a guy over at the REX forums explaining this method and all values included. So this might be a good reading too if you are interested in the things beyond the LOD value.http://realenvironme...9bb&topic=898.0

January 10, 201115 yr Commercial Member It's not a free solution, but Orbx has their FSX Go tool that essentially automates the process of working w/multiple cfg files. I've used it for a while now with good results, and it's dead easy to set up. http://fullterrain.com/product_fsxgo.html Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack). January 10, 201115 yr Wow, very nice! Have been looking for the same thing! This forum is one of the most informative places I have ever seen. Thanks to Loyd!
January 10, 201115 yr Moderator ok - to each his own but I'm missing something obvious here - :)what's the difference between making the edit each time you make a change and loading a saved cfg file eachtime you make a change. Seems like six of one and a half dozen of another.Actually it appears to be more time consuming. You make an in game change and the LOD gets reset. Now what? if you load the saved cfg then the LOD will be correct but the change you just made will be lost. If you save the cfg as current - you still have to edit the LOD in the saved cfg and load it.As I said - I must be missing something here. :)I use a little program called FSXCFGedit - one click opens the cfg - make edit - close.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
