February 16, 201115 yr FSX / acceleration only.I keep watching all the AI traffic being added to AVSIM Library practically every day. I have been avoiding getting into adding AI traffic for some reason. Could someone please give me an overview or link for reading about how easy or how difficult it is to add AI traffic to FSX?I am interested in populating a specific airport - KGPT and a specific military air base KBIX. These are practically deserted airports. Keesler AFB has 0 AI planes but yet in real life is full of C-130s, Learjet 35s and occasional 737 civilian charters. Gulfport./Biloxi has 2 DC-9 (sic) max - a SOAR and a PACIFIC Air with sliders at 100%. Maybe I can spruce up these two local airports with some traffic. Even just parked planes would be a great improvement. In real life, KGPT is a joint Military/civilian airport with tons of traffic, military training flights, civilian airliners, GA jet and prop traffic.Any takers? Thanks.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 16, 201115 yr Adding traffic does no good if there are no parking spots for the planes. KBIX has no parking, as most every military base in FSX. So you would need to make a new airport file and add some parking. Adding traffic can be done with AI Flight Planner by Don Grovestine. It requires the SDKs to be installed. There is a little learning curve, but not so much that an average person can't have planes flying in a short period of time.

I have downloaded Don Grovestine's AI Flight Planner and will start learning it.Does your comment about KBIX and most military bases not having parking also apply to KGPT? I have two small airliners that show up. Maybe MD80s. SOAR and PACIFIC AIR. Thanks. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 16, 201115 yr I took a look at the default KGPT and there are plenty of parking spots. I would recommend checking them out to make sure they are large enough for what you want to show up. Just as an example, say you wanted a 747 to visit, but the largest spot is a Gate-small... No where for the big bird to park. If you have specific airlines that you add in you can assign parking spot priority by the Airline code. There's a lot of good information out there and once you start getting into it and seeing how you can customize things, you might get hooked on it!

I went to WOAI and downloaded a half dozen scheduled airliners. Only US Airways Express has shown up, I ran the clock thru a day to see some new traffic but no joy. Also found something called FSX-GA Traffic but I can't make it work, yet. It creates a bgl file but nothing seems to happen. I hope I do get hooked.EDIT:Oh WOW, I just checked in at KGPT and saw a Delta sitting there. While looking at it I almost got ran over by an AirTran. I'm getting excited. This is the most traffic KGPT has seen since Katrina.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 16, 201115 yr Check this site out.http://www.militaryaiworks.com/There you can find the c130's in the SE ANG package.More info here...interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/maiw.php for how to install.Kirk Athlon X3 450 3.2Ghz, 4GB 7-7-7-24 RAM, ATI 5750 1GB video card, Win 7 64

Not that Gulfport would have any boats...GA-Traffic by Markus Brunner is a good tool for adding new AI planes and traffic, but it *does* take some reading and understanding. I used his FS9 version of the tool a lot, but haven't gotten into the FSX version in a long time. But you can use it to create any amount of GA traffic throughout the world or just in a smaller area. Adding GA-based AI planes and some of the repaints and then seeing them at an airport is kind of cool. And as mentioned, MAIW can add military flights, but the traffic files should be converted to FSX format and the airports (bases) need to have the proper parking setup.

I can't make it work yet. It does everything but add the traffic. Duh!. All the military stuff seems to be for FS9 and quite complicated to convert to FSX as they aren't interested in anything other than FS2004 for some reason. I will look into the AIFP conversion. Thanks.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

March 20, 201115 yr Because FSX is inferior to FS9 for AI purposes.....Like the way FS9 spawns all the AI Traffic all at once and all bunched together, instead of spreading things out, right Mike?
May 5, 201115 yr Like the way FS9 spawns all the AI Traffic all at once and all bunched together, instead of spreading things out, right Mike?A better way of saying what I was trying to say is:If you want to have military style AI traffic in one of the two simulator platforms, FS9 is the better choice since 99% of all military AI traffic related files are designed solely for use in FS9. They can be used in FSX but the results are not as good and there are some issues related to using native FS9 models in the FSX platform. /Group hug. May 5, 201115 yr Raymar,There are issues with adding military AI to both sims. As already stated, there is no parking at airports that are just military. And parking at mixed airports is for civil aircraft. Military planes will park in those spots if no other places are open. If you search the Avsim library, you can find military AI packages. Some include everything you need to get up and running. The only problems with using FS9 planes in FSX are prop and glass texture issues. But the planes work, and texture problems can be corrected. If you use something like Airport Design Editor, you can fix airports in both sims as needed. As already stated, FS9 flightplans should be corrected for use in FSX with AIFP so that days of the week are correct. Also, FS9 flightplans, used in FSX, cancel default FSX flights in your traffic area. But default flights from outside your traffic area start to show after 15 minutes or so. A good way to get to know your sim is to get to know ADE (Airport Design Editor) as well as AIFP. You will be amazed at what you can do. Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
May 5, 201115 yr Raymar:I use a combination of WOAI and Military AIWorks for all of my traffic. I do not convert the flight plans from FS9 to FSX and it works fine for me. As for airports, if I can not find an FSX version, I will use the ones from Military AIWorks. I create separate folders under Addon Scenery for all of my traffic and airports. As an example, I have folders called Traffic-Military and Traffic-Commerical. For my airports, if it is military, than I call it something like MIL-AFB Barksdale La KBAD. This allows me to find things if I have to. You are going to also need EditVoicePack for FSX to get the callsigns recognized as well.Hope this gives you some more ideas.ps. There is some great UK military airports and traffic at UKMIL site as well.Bill MortonFSX with Acceleration, Windows 7 x64
May 6, 201115 yr Raymar:I added your airports to my system, KBIX and KGPT, using Military AIWORKS SE ANG, and KGPT airport for FS2004. Attached are screen shots from each. As you can see, there is traffic.Hope this helps.Bill MortonFSX with Acceleration, Windows 7 x64
