So I decided to read PMDG menuals.But I didn't know English at all. So I studyed English two months.Then I readed the manual. And It was spent 8 months to read the menual.I heared that new product will be realized whitch name is 737 NGX.I wish a few things to publisher of the 737 NGX manual.1. please use easy words. Don't use words like "nonetheless", "evaporator". "at the same time" is better then "simulaneously".2. insert many pictures instead of sentences. Picture is easy to undstand.3. Only two months of study in a SL is far from providing you with the ability to achieve a desirable minimum level of understanding so that you can make a reading that involves knowledge of technical words.Also, don't forget that English as a SL in your resume will help you more than you believe.

English is the international language of aviation... I don't think we'll be translating 3500 pages of material, just not practical.

Not to mention, the manual is meant to be a technical document, with technical and specific language. Simplified language is for that of tutorials and YouTube videos. While I understand your pain, I don't see the practicality, and can't forgive losing the realism for the sake of those who don't know the language of aviation.Hopefully, since you've had experience with reading the 744 manuals, you'll find the 73 manuals easier. Again, as pointed out, there's always Google.

PMDG manuals are meant to be the closest to the real thing as possible. Actually, if I'm not wrong, Ryan said that the NGX manuals are Boeing's original 737 manual with PMDG logo on it (that's one of the reasons that it can't be put for download at the Internet). I've never seen any manual, being it of a plane or of a remote control that don't have "hard words". As Ryan said, English is the universal language for everything, not only for aviation. I'd hate to see in the manual something like "Pull the flight column slighly backward" written "Pull that "U" shaped thing in front of you into your belly".Many things written in a plane manual are pure technical language, so at the same time you learn English, you have to learn the name of things that are part of the plane and name of procedures. Pictures won't help anyone if you don't have a deep explanation of what that is and what does that do. I study English for 5 years, since I was 11. I'm almost graduated in my English course and I'm not even close to know what an average American or British knows. Two months are not enough even for the basics.

AoA is great... For those who speak English. With all respect but if he has problems with reading, he will have a huge problem trying to listen. For written words he can use Google. There are a lot of online translators, but for sounds... Well, I don't know any.

Hi Kim. A former pilot Mike Ray has made some e-books (checkride manuals) on how to get a 737 and others in the air. He uses an easier understandable English, and there are lots of drawings :( I can really recommend them. I must commend you (means I have much respect :( ) for taking such serious steps to learn English and how to flyBjorn

He uses an easier understandable English, and there are lots of drawings :( I can really recommend them. I must commend you (means I have much respect :( ) for taking such serious steps to learn English and how to flyBjorn
Agreed. Taking the step to learn is a big step, seeing that English is definitely not the easiest of the languages. Until you get a grasp for technical english, Mike Ray's manuals are a good 737 resource (though they're for the 300-500 if I remember correctly - similar operation however).

Hi Kim,I also totally agree with the above comments with Mike Ray's manuals. Over time I have collected all his manuals and its been a very good way of learning aircraft systems in an easy to read way. There are loads of pictures and drawings to study and these manuals make an excellent stepping stone into the study and understanding of the wonderful aircraft and their systems that PMDG release.Flight simulation is a wonderful and rewarding interest that everyone around the world can enjoy whatever their language and one of the great things about it is that everyone learns at their own speed and online forums like this one are great ways of sharing and learning new information and idea's. It's never an easy thing coming into a forum asking for help and putting forward your idea's so well done on this!I congratulate you on your progress so far with your learning and efforts and hope you find what your looking for and continue to enjoy your flying.
