February 21, 201115 yr I am wondering if anyone using FSX has been able to use FaceTrackNoIR 1.4.I am able to use my Logitech C120 webcam and tried connecting to FSX with the SimConnect.ini but with no luck.I use Windows 7 64 bit.For anyone that is interested this is the place to go http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htmIt does the same sort of thing that TrackIR does but is FREE.Hope somebody can help but maybe it is not the correct type of Webcam I am using.regardsRichard Richard Binns MSFS 2020 & 2024- Asus ROG Strix Z390-E - Skylake i7 9700k - Asus Geforce RTX 4070 Super OC 12gb, 64gig G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 - Thermaltake Thor 850w Platinum PSU - Corsair H150i AIO Liquid CPU Cooler - H150i AIO Liquid CPU Cooler - Thermaltake V71 Case - Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 500GB - 2 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus V-Nand 1TB
February 21, 201115 yr WOW, this looks good! There are videos from FSX so I guess it's supposed to work. Before I try this I'd like to hear from somebody who already tried this and is also using EZCA. I don't want to mess up something. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
February 21, 201115 yr It works, yes, but wait for the update, which fixes a few things for FSX / FS2004, EZCA included...http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/news/news.htm
February 21, 201115 yr I was just about to buy TrackIR... well, if this really works that means that 200€ stays with me, almost unbelievable. I'll wait for EZCA implementation, though. Thanks for the info! Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery

Thanks for the info!I had just started thinking about getting TrackIR as well, looks like I might end up looking for a cheapo webcam instead .. ..G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

If so, then I think your webcam is working OK. I initially found it difficult to avoid losing the wire outline, and while this was happening I couldn't connect to FSX. I changed the position of the webcam (placed it under the screen and pointing upwards slightly, instead of resting on the top of the screen), and then adjusted the room lighting until the wire outline was consistently present, and since then I have found that it connects reliably to FSX.Dugald

What a shame.I have no idea what all the settings are so have not touched them.I shall try moving the webcam around to see if it works.Thank you for your help.regardsRichard Richard Binns MSFS 2020 & 2024- Asus ROG Strix Z390-E - Skylake i7 9700k - Asus Geforce RTX 4070 Super OC 12gb, 64gig G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 - Thermaltake Thor 850w Platinum PSU - Corsair H150i AIO Liquid CPU Cooler - H150i AIO Liquid CPU Cooler - Thermaltake V71 Case - Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 500GB - 2 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus V-Nand 1TB
February 22, 201115 yr Looks like you need a reasonably light room for the webcam to work properly and sense the head movement. I've been experimenting with FaceNoir vs TrackIR. The jury is out so far but the convenience of using a cam is appealing - am sick of getting tied up by cables hanging off my headset! Chillblast Core i5 14600KF Liquid Cooled RTX 4070 SUPER 32GB RAM. February 22, 201115 yr I wonder if faster, more expensive webcams perform better. Anyone using an old, preferably crappy :( , webcam? And how´s it performing?Bjorn "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"

February 23, 201115 yr I have the same question. I assume a HD level webcam will perform better? Or not?Bob.. :)I just tried this with my PS3 eye cam. Works great on FSX although the stock settings are too sensitive. Will be playing more tomorrow.....(looking forward to the update too!) February 24, 201115 yr Managed to get this working with an old DV video camera on a firewire port (I don't have a webcam) - seemed a little flakey to connect for the first time, then connected without changing any of the settings. As per the post above the stock settings seem a bit too sensitive - but it does work, even if it will take getting used to.The only real problem I have with it at this stage is that if you disable the facetracker via the hotkey you cannot use the normal methods of looking around the cockpit, which is a bit of pain trying to hit those switches.........G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
February 25, 201115 yr Does this work with cheap webcam or do I need something more decent? Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
February 27, 201115 yr I finally picked up a webcam and tried this program out. It definitely has potential. The one problem I notice is that I have a little lag time between my movements and what happens on the screen. Does anyone have any settings that they like and would be willing to share?
February 28, 201115 yr I have been playing with the sliders but I'm not really sure it's having much effect.....probably a PBKM situation though! Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
