Installed it yesterday - no problems to report. I haven't really noticed any improvements per se either, but the OS was already good to begin with.

W7 SP1 is really just a collection of every updates already published for the system. If your system is already up to date then this service pack changes... absolutely nothing !

That's what I thought, but my system was up to date and the installation still took about 30 minutes so I wonder if it did install any updates that had not been previously released? Windows Media Player went through it's initial setup dialog the first time I used it afterwards. It's working with no problems at the moment but like Ryan I've not noticed any changes in performance so far.Andy Lawton

For those where the installation of SP1 failed. Quoting from another website:

Disk space requirements You will need enough free disk space to install SP1. The installer should check for this and prevent the install if there's not enough space, but you can check yourself using the following conditions: You're installing via Windows Update. SP1 requires 750 MB of free disk space for 32-bit systems, or 1050 MB for 64-bit systems. You're installing via an installation DVD (which you may have created using the DVD image noted above). SP1 requires 4.1 GB of free disk space for 32-bit systems, or 7.4 GB for 64-bit systems. You're installing via downloaded interactive installer. SP1 requires 4.1 GB of free disk space for 32-bit systems, or 7.4 GB for 64-bit systems.
The quoted figure given for installing SP1 via Windows Update doesn't seem correct, though. I tried it multiple times with ca. 4 GB free disk space and the update would fail. As soon as I relocated some folders and had as much as 12 GB free on the system partition the update went through without problems.

Not sure that's true - I installed it on a fully up to date system and it still downloaded and installed quite a bit of stuff.

It installed correctly for me the second time around, not sure why it failed, defiantly not related to disk space for me seeing how I just use this PC for fsx.

It appears to have worked for me on the first try. I haven't used FSX since then though. I sold my stick so now I only have the saitek yoke & it didn't come with a power cable. I emailed their tech support, not asking for a replacement, just a radioshack part number or some such information where I can get my own a couple days ago & still no response...
