FSX ATC makes me want to go GRRR!

Featured Replies

In that event, I may as well not bother "going online" to begin with
Now that was funny.... Sure the Flight forum would appreciate it :-)

i cant find them. tried only on avsim library. :-(

MeatWater's (Nick Schreger's) VocPack for Radar Contact 4 (10 files in all) comes highly recommended. Can't speak for them myself since I'm not yet a Radar Contact user but I'm about to take the plunge.I believe they're in the Avsim library but I'm having trouble finding them using the new search engine. They're also on Flightsim.com but I'm not able to paste the link for some reason. Search on Meatwater Radar Contact VocPack over there and you should be able to find them.Hope this helps.

Use the advanced search option, and search under Author Meatwater in the FS2004-Miscellaneous files section, and you'll find them. (10 files)

Thanks

Ah, that explains it - I'd been looking in the FSX section. Went to FS2004-Miscellaneous and there they all are...

Grrrrr!ATC going on AND ON about other aircraft being "300 feet above/below their assigned altitude" Grrr! Shut up!Asking for landing clearance from ATC only to be offered the runway with a tailwind. Grrr!On an IFR flight plan being told to report other aircraft in sight whilst I am in solid IMC and can't see a thing! (That's your job to keep them from hitting me FSX ATC!) Grrr!On an IFR flight plan being told to "expedite descent" even though I'm 80 miles from the airfield at FL100. Grrr! And then on descent being instructed to descend further into the path of a rather large mountain. Grrr!On an IFR flight plan being vectored AWAY from the airfield during an approach (what a waste of fuel!) Grrr! And finally...Being cleared to land by ATC despite a larger and faster aircraft behind me and/or something on the runway slow to vacate and being told to "go around" Grr! (just another day at El Prat...;)Apart from these I still love FSX. Big Grin.gif Any other really frustrating FSX features that make you go Grrr?!

You forgot to mention ,contact this centre, then this center, now recall that approact center every few minutes, now I acknowledge contact instruction,do nothing, but hit B for alt settings &hope my 747 doesnt bump into anythingBobG

I like when they give you a decent lower than transition alt, with no altimeter setting.

I cannot echo the recommendation for Radar Contact enough. You have to turn off the voice option in your FSX sounds or you will hear the same non-usable ATC behind Radar Contact. If you want to try and combine the voice commands you will want to have a good headset and "It's Your Plane". Sometimes the command menu is slow to respond, but you can give Comms or flight control over to your co-pilot with Radar Contact and you perform whichever tasks you decide on. On the FSX ATC option, like mentioned, you have to first - listen to impractical instructions, second - determine how to avoid executing impractical instructions but still complete your intended flight plan and at the risk of having your flight plan canceled with no realistic options to chose from, and third - deal with separation issues, i.e. holding short even with a safe distance between your departure and the arriving aircraft on a long final, or being cleared to land with no further speed advisories. This is as real as it should get without going live. VOXATC is an attractive addon that I no longer use because after ATC gives, "Last Aircraft calling say again" and I press my assigned key and not even say a word, It always get the appropriate response, so why bother even speaking? Good luck

You shouldn't use the Cielosim software either. Instead of having ATC feeds incorporated in one utility, they are separate downloads instead. Dave.
