FSX ATC makes me want to go GRRR!

Featured Replies

Grrrrr!ATC going on AND ON about other aircraft being "300 feet above/below their assigned altitude" Grrr! Shut up!Asking for landing clearance from ATC only to be offered the runway with a tailwind. Grrr!On an IFR flight plan being told to report other aircraft in sight whilst I am in solid IMC and can't see a thing! (That's your job to keep them from hitting me FSX ATC!) Grrr!On an IFR flight plan being told to "expedite descent" even though I'm 80 miles from the airfield at FL100. Grrr! And then on descent being instructed to descend further into the path of a rather large mountain. Grrr!On an IFR flight plan being vectored AWAY from the airfield during an approach (what a waste of fuel!) Grrr! And finally...Being cleared to land by ATC despite a larger and faster aircraft behind me and/or something on the runway slow to vacate and being told to "go around" Grr! (just another day at El Prat...;)Apart from these I still love FSX. :( Any other really frustrating FSX features that make you go Grrr?!

I'd rather fly without ATC than fly with the FSX ATC. :wink:I guess I don't fly with AI very often anyways so it's not a big deal for me.

Totally agree about both, infact, I do 100% of my flying online, totally free of default atc and AI

Its not perfect .. but its included in the 49.99$ sim.   At that price, its a tremendous value.

Have you got aftermarket traffic files? I usually hear these kinds of calls for the smaller piston engine aircraft being expected to fly at 15,000 feet and above which their flight dynamics aren't designed for.

Where I typically fly, both VATSIM and IVAO would be a waste of time......since there's zero coverage! In that event, I may as well not bother "going online" to begin with. :(

It also often happens if the local altimeter setting is particularly high or low. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but it seems that FSX may not have a transition altitude properly programmed for AI aircraft. I've been heard the same calls from ATC directed to my aircraft: "XXX, you are 300 above your assigned altitude, descend and maintain FL350". I'm cruising with altimeters set to 29.92 and athe altimeter indicating FL350 on the dot. However, I've tried changing the altimeter to the local setting and find in that case I can be FL354-355 on the right day.

Stopped using the FSX ATC since my last flight aboard the default 737 to PHNL.If you absolutely must use ATC, then VoxATC or flying online are the two tickets to catch with :).Dave.

radar contact 4.3 hit the frame rate?
Nope... and it works rather well... been a user since it was first released.

Oh yes, there's one thing that causes me to go 'Grrr'. It's the internal views that were omitted from FSX.Limitations in FSX are those that actually causes me to go 'Grrr' within every flightDave.

MeatWater's (Nick Schreger's) VocPack for Radar Contact 4 (10 files in all) comes highly recommended. Can't speak for them myself since I'm not yet a Radar Contact user but I'm about to take the plunge.I believe they're in the Avsim library but I'm having trouble finding them using the new search engine. They're also on Flightsim.com but I'm not able to paste the link for some reason. Search on Meatwater Radar Contact VocPack over there and you should be able to find them.Hope this helps.
