April 13, 201115 yr I redid my math and estimated that a point on the A380 would take 0,4 second to cross the fuselage of the CRJ.Avg. speed = Distance / Time, so...V = 2,7m / 0,4sV = 6,75m/s1m/s = 1,94 knots, so 6,75m/s = 13 knots. I think that 13 knots make more sense. without including perspective, it's more like :Nose to collision on the wing = 50 meters of A380 lengthTime gap = 4.60 secondesSpeed = 10.86 m/s or 21.1 ktsBen

April 13, 201115 yr This is a just payback for what happen to it "F-HPJD", 6 month ago, because of an A330 :Pict 1Pict 2Ben
April 13, 201115 yr Apparently the A380 was 'impounded' for further investigation due to the incident. Air France has a member of their fleet out for some time... Maybe they'll consider they much nicer looking and effecient 747-8 Intercontinenral, probably not though. Inactive

April 13, 201115 yr Wow, were there passengers in the CRJ? I suppose the pilots where on board since the nav lights were on if i remember correctly. Imagine you are sitting in there doing whatever, either in the cockpit programming the FMC and BOOM your plane turns 70° to the left, lol. A. O. Kara "It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill."
April 13, 201115 yr there were 62 passengers on board of the crj, according to a newspage best regards, Michael K N I T T L PC Specs: i7950@4ghz, ASUS PTV2 Deluxe, nVidia GTX580, 12GB DD3 1600 Corsair Controls: Saitek Yoke & Rudder Pedals, TackIR5
April 13, 201115 yr For the passengers and crew of the CRJ, that swivel-hop must have felt like being grabbed by The Hand of God, fer sure, though anyone who boarded drunk would probably just marvel at how strong those departure lounge whisky shots turned out to be.On an unrelated note, Bendead, is that airborne boudoir picture taken from inside the Airbus 380 ? That private suite would definitely be of interest to passengers aspiring for induction into the Mile High Club, though I can only imagine how pricey such a privilege would be. Oh well, since I most likely can't afford it, I won't ask how much, whenever I board the A380. RegardsTony Best regards from Tony, at the helm of the flying desk.

April 13, 201115 yr If I had $1,300 burning a hole in my pocket, I might be better off just staying in Bankok and enlisting a few pleasure consultants for a group grope - not that I would ever consider partaking of such wanton debauchery, mind you. Tony Best regards from Tony, at the helm of the flying desk.
April 13, 201115 yr Taxiway width will also be investigated, as the required width is 30 meters for the 380, and JFK has a dispensation to allow for 22 mtrs only. That dispensation will possibly be under the spotlight I guess. Also the CRJ having to stop to give way to a service vehicle may have contributed to the accident also. Both planes would not have met had the truck given way. Unless at JFK, that rule does not apply ? Can anyone confirm that ?CheersJulian
