April 15, 201115 yr Speaking of Air France - hm... yet again.. Seriously considering not to fly this airline ever.....1988-2011Twenty three years and you're still thinking?Oh, please, please, do let us know when you finally come up with a decision. We can't wait any longer.Bruno PS (edit) : see above if you're interested in factual comments on what happenened at JFKhttp://forum.avsim.net/topic/332575-airbus-collides-with-crj-at-jfk/page__view__findpost__p__1962203
April 15, 201115 yr Making a youtube video of a crash that cost life with party music is just pathetic. and posting it, even more. :Hmmmph:Benwho hasn't typed in "plane crashes" on youtube? Its not his fault that some moron decided to play "party music" to the video. Relax man. And FYI Im not scared of airbus or cars or air france, I just would rather not fly with them, whats the big deal? get over it, some people don't like airlines that have multiple fatal crashes. If you do its your buisness but don't get all offended when some people don't feel the same way you do. Im flying to Australia next Jan and theres a good chance I will spend roughly 15 hours over the pacific on an airbus, might be a 777 but since its a standby ticket its whatever has open seats ( can't complain $136 round trip Edmonton-Vancouver-Sydney ), doesn't mean Im not going to go because Im scared.. now if it was an airbus operated by air france...Corey Prefontaine CYEG
April 15, 201115 yr - Did the multiples 737 rudder crashes made me laugh, no.. BenNot to come out harsh or anything, and I do respect both Airbus and Boeing...I think, The 737 is twice the aircraft the A3XX should have been. (Opinion)I think my point has been made.
April 16, 201115 yr Speaking of A320 and B737 - 1988 vs. 1968...And in case you've forgotten here is the first air show of A320: Speaking of Air France - hm... yet again.. Seriously considering not to fly this airline ever.....In airbuses defense, If I remember correctly that was caused by the FBW programming not allowing the pilots to perform the maneuver required to climb because it would exceed passenger comfort. Since then, it's been fixed.Don't get me wrong though, I still prefer Boeing! Ryan Gamurot
April 16, 201115 yr In airbuses defense, If I remember correctly that was caused by the FBW programming not allowing the pilots to perform the maneuver required to climb because it would exceed passenger comfort. Since then, it's been fixed.Don't get me wrong though, I still prefer Boeing!Ryan, that's what the pilot claimed. Without entering into details, Airbus programmed the plane to ignore actions (like pulling on the stick in certain conditions) that would make the plane stall and that has not changed. But the pilot (and also the airshow organizers, but mainly the pilot) did so many unbelievable - and unforgettable - mistakes on that day that everyone - in France or anywhere in the world - cringes when they see that video. And the fact that "only" (note the italics) three passengers lost their life is a small miracle. It happened 23 years ago but, of course the French bashers - or Air France bashers - of the world have a field day when they see it. That's life. C'est la vie.Bruno
April 16, 201115 yr Just to add my 2ct:I think if there were as many good airbusses on flightsim market many of us wouldn't have such a bad opinion of Airbusses.Just because some developers like Wilco have produced such bad addons which are far away from PDMGs quality it doesn't mean that Airbusses are that bad in real life.If they were i'd never again enter an Airbus.Well, now I know that most of you would disagree that the lack of Addons doesn't play a role in their thinking, but think again. But well I may also be wrong here. What do you think? Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
April 16, 201115 yr Hmm.. that would be enough to sparkle a new A320/B737 fallout.. so lets put this to a stop here and now. Both airplanes are great with own pros and cons. I prefer the B. but others might prefer the opposite. Anyway about the A380 accident:One of the procedures while taxi is on every intersection BOTH pilots should visually confirm BOTH sides are clear, and announce "Clear left"/"Clear right". This is to ensure that the ATC Ground control has not made incorrect decision to clear the airplane for further taxi. Obviously this was not done in the cockpit of Air France plane. The CRJ had to stop before clearing the taxiway intersection because of truck moving in front. Meanwhile the ATC has presumed the CRJ has cleared the intersection and gave the clearance to Air France. However the ATC does NOT have 5 pair of eyes and a build up camera above this particular intersection. So, IMHO the final responsibility falls in the hands of those behind - in this case Air France A380... Furthermore from the video it appears that the taxi speed of the 380 was way faster than it should be in this part of the airport (crossing taxiways near the gates - Alpha crossing Mike in front of Terminal 2). This particular area falls in the so called Hot Spots and extreme caution must be exercised during taxi in this area. Another thing is that the A380 does taxi on the inside (taxiway A) in the wrong direction?.. FYI taxiway Alpha on KJFK is with clockwise direction of the traffic but I recon that has to do with the ATC on that day. Would the A380 taxied on the outside taxiway Bravo, there would be no accident.Final conclusion:- Rep. for Air France... Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931

What do you think?Yes it's probably on par with the kind of logic that is used to compare Airbus and Boeing in a few previous posts... :( The best way to prevent a debate from being "objective" is to go on the emotional level...Look at what politicians do... April 16, 201115 yr This incident is so ironic for me, because I tweaked my afcad of FSDT's KJFK just a few days ago to allow my AI Air France A380 to park at Terminal 1 gate A5 to match real life ops. While working on the afcad, I was wondering "can an a380 really fit in the cramped space of terminal 1?" I'm thinking that the Air France pilots are in the clear, they were given instruction to taxi on M and had the right of way, but someone from ground control really goofed on where they positioned the CRJ at the express parking spots for the Delta regionals at Terminal 2.The CRF was standing still. The airbus was moving.A pilot is responsible when moving the aircraft. If he hits something that's standing still he's not in the clear! Even if they were instructed to taxi, they should have said "unable"Bert Van Bulck
April 16, 201115 yr they should have said "unable"Or at least slow down...:blink:I recon both pilots were busy with the "after take off menu checklist":Capt: "... Say Francois, maybee the frog legs as hors-d'œuvre, suivie par homard thermidor (that's lobster buddy)....?...."F.O.: "...Mmm, lobster.... Hey Capitaine, what about zis CRJ on the left?.."Capt: "....Pas de problème, we are taller than him. He'll swoop under...."Loud Bang!F.O.: ".....Non Captaine, he did not.................." April 16, 201115 yr That's no whoops, more like rough and ouch!!!! The pilot of Air France Airbus 380 should have know better and that proper clearance at all times is a must during taxi. Will find out soon enough with the audio recordings.:( Kenneth M."PUP"Craddock IIPC: Alienware Aurora R4 Intel I7-3820.....As for the rest is classified http://pup4ordfsxmore.blogspot.com/
April 16, 201115 yr Ouch! Did the CRJ's right wingtip also get damaged? It looks like it hit the ground. Are both planes going to be repaired? Thanks, Kevin L
April 16, 201115 yr @Tatave, no, they are going to the scrapyard xp. I sure hope they get repaired. Would be very costly if they don't.... Hauke Verrept
