I hope I don't offend with my question.I don't have a problem paying some 5 bucks or so to get current plans, but I wonder what the difference in the sim will be when I only see Summer 2010 instead of Summer 2011 for example. Would I recognize it?So, honestly, how would you describe the enhancements coming with this update? This question is not intended to play smart, don't get me wrong, please.

summer 2010 will be the schedule of summer 2010 and summer 2011 will have any changes made in the last year.

Sorry, had to smile a bit when reading this. I'm aware that the scheduled years actually will differ. I was mainly referring to the expected changes in the sim then since I doubt that I will recognize the differences. So I wanted to trigger some words from the more "seeing" people on how this update influences their pleasure. Always willing to learn and get my eyes opened. That update doesn't come at high costs but I don't update for the fun of paying, that's why I'm asking.Still not trying to play smart, so please don't get my smiling answer wrong.

CoolP, I work for US Airways at DFW. I went ahead and purchased the schedule update just for fun and to see how accurate it is. Just checking closely, it seems pretty close for now. These days though, airlines change their schedules like people change underwear.I know we're going to have a schedule change at the beginning of May which will involve some equipment changes and maybe some departure and arrival time changes. As I said, it's almost impossible for Flight 1 to keep up with the constantly changing real world schedules, but it at least is in the ballpark.

Thanks, Mike.My thinking maybe complements yours by stating that at least I'm not able to even see if UT2 is showing me 2010 or 2011 traffic. All I see is traffic in general and as long as they don't park J3s at the "heavy" gates in 2011 this might not change. So some assumed big changes (for me) may only include some more A380s or so in 2011 (although they are not modelled I think). If anybody really recognized e. g. that Emirates 777 instead of the 2010 767, he really is a good observer. But, as said, I wasn't up to criticize the guys buying the update. My UT2 app always warns me about those old plans, but I usually don't care much there, because of my mentioned personal preference.

I think the question you are posing is... what changes from season to season are noticeable.? The answer depends whether you are a detail person or not. The changes will represent new airlines that started in the past year, airlines that are defunct and should no longer be present in the sim, and equipment changes where old aircraft were retired and new aircraft delivered to airlines. Of course there are schedule changes, but those are not noticeable to the average simmer unless a real world schedule is checked. As long as there are aircraft in the skies and at airports, most users perceive a "realistic" feel to the sim.Is it worth getting? Again, that depends on your level of realism. Most users will probably be happy just keeping what they have since nothing seems out of place. However, when a big airline goes out of business or merges with another, or you know XYZ no longer flies the MD-11, then you are going to notice how dated the traffic is and want an update. So it's up to you to decide...

Bruce, you've nailed it. I absolutely agree.I'm one of those which are happy when the skies are full when going offline, no preference on accuracy. Later, online, they get filled by all sorts of schedules though and I'm often enough a guy which mixes up some things there. Big%20Grin.gif

Are the changes only to the schedules, or also the aircraft affected? For example US Airways, apparently now uses the old America West call sign of "Cactus", and The old Northwest "Delta". Did this update fix the aircraft ATC_Callsign fields to reflect this? This wasn't done in the Winter's update. I was going to go to fix them myself, but it's a pain. If this is done in this update, it may be worth getting!!

Thanks

the long version of what i said :-)

I'm one of those who doesn't care if airliners park at correct gate/stand etc. I just want some framerate friendly, good looking models with assorted liveries landing and taking off to give me a sense of not being alone.Couldn't care less if the routes are real or not.

I am half way with you in that I do like for the most part proper parking at the gate and I really do like they fly real routes, Im just not too concerned as if they are 100% up to date. I will probably update the schedules but not every time.Jim
