I'd like to try this. Despite being a member for 9 years, I've never actually done a VATSIM flight.I'd love some guidance on how to get started and not embarass myself! (I have RW flight experience in controlled and uncontrolled airspace, I'm not sure how it translates to the online experience)I think I need to know how to connect and maybe some guidelines so i don't mess up others' experience. Please drop me a link (or a line) if there is some info I can read up on and be ready! Thanks

Possibly get PMDG to sponsor the flight. Flight all leave from KRNT then to each of the top airlines main hub cities. That was we don't over due the airspace on arrival.Delta - AtlantaAmerican - Dallas Fort WorthSouthwest - Dallas (Love field)etc. This would give the VATSIM community a chance to staff up the arrival aiports as well. Think about it if we just have 50% participation from all that have liked the NGX facebook page we're talking about 2,500 plus people. I know 50% is a little high but i'm sure Vatsim will have a huge spike in server activity following the release of this bird.

Hey guys. What I was thinking of doing, if anyone is interested, is jumping on VATSIM and getting a bunch of people on teamspeak and if you had any questions that I could answer for you then I would try my best. If its anything to do with procedures on how the plane is flown, etc then hopefully I can answer them for you. I think I will just pick the most popular route that you guys are doing and fly along. Or we could all just do the same route and create an event out of the thing and give these VATSIM controllers a handful. Let me know what you think! Take care allJackColwill

I would love that! It would be fun to do a route with you, and I'd love to listen in to the Q/A!

You could do a group flight of 5-6 hours and Jack could give some explanations about the systems en route.

WOAH WOAH! 5-6 hour leg? I complain about those at work and I even get paid to do those! LOL. Hey I am up for whatever you guys would like. A long cruise section is nice because there is a lot less chat with ATC and we can spend more time on TS without getting interrupted. JackColwill

This sounds like a good idea even though I never used teamspeak before so I wouldn't know how to set it up unsure.gif

i have never used vatsim before. DO you have to be very good at using proper terminology when speaking to the ATC.
Yes. They dont expect you to be as proficient as a professional pilot (actually, some controllers do, but thats a whole different discussion), but you are expected to understand the basics and to be able to follow instructions. And they especially expect you to tell inform them if there's something that you are unable to do for whatever reason. You are also expected to have made an effort into learning how things work in real life aviation as well as how things works on Vatsim (things doesnt always work the exact same way online as it does in real life, socalled "vatsimisms")

Will am going to need to start reading up and listening to liveatc.net for how the ATC works in that part of the would. I usally just fly in the UK and Europe with just the odd flight to JFK and CVG.Member of RYR Virtual.

Hey Jack if we are all flying to the same destination I think my first question would be how to properly execute a holding pattern, never have actually had to do it online when it countsbiggrin.gif
