June 10, 201114 yr What's that got to do with it? I'm just saying that on VATSIM the ATC would give me vectors after saying "expect vectors" while PFE did notWhen flying a Star in PFE, you are supposed to follow the charts as once you enter a star procedure you are essentially telling PFE I have it from here based on the charts... Typically from PFE I get continue present course until lined up then contact tower on xxx or something like that. That is what it had to do with it...Wasn't a wisea@@ response, I was giving you an answer. June 10, 201114 yr Author Okai, well the add SID/STAR buttons are greyed out for TNCM. If I enter TNCM in the SID/STAR menu I have no idea how to add a STAR, I can only enter the code that the ATC will read out.I read the manual page 44 but it doesn't mention anything. How does PFE know how the SID/STAR is performed when I can only add the code? John doe

How does PFE know how the SID/STAR is performed when I can only add the code?It really doesn't, it relies upon you to fly the approach correctly. Essentially you tell PFE the WP you want to begin your STAR in the adjust altitudes option once you have loaded your flight. Tell it where you will begin the STAR and it will leave you alone to fly it. At the last WP where you START the START you will get an instruction to essentially fly the STAR and contact tower on XXX.XX when established. The onyl thing you will get now is traffic advisories, not vectors. As I use PFE comm + which allows the PNF to work the radios it will 99% automatically switch to Tower, contact them and let them know I am x miles out on approach once I have established onto the Approach path. PFE will then tell you to continue approach you are number x for landing (all from memory so don't hold me to that) You will then get a winds are xxx at x cleared to land rwy 10 a few miles out...At least that is how it works for me and I love it...-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
June 10, 201114 yr That's more or less how it works. Create a SID and STAR to your flightplan and PFE allows you to fly it. For example whan flying a SID. It gives you the SID clearance also as part of the take-off clearance. Once you have reached the SID altitude PFE cleares you for own navigation up to the first wypt in the FP where it resumes control. It's much the same for a STAR. For example when flying into LIMZ I follow the chart thus making a turn onto the rwy heading. PFE recognizes this and tells me to continue that heading undoer own navigation and call the tower. You do need to refine your fp's so that everything runs smoothly. Even so there are always small niggles. For example PFE always gives me a final altitude that is too low when arriving in EGLL. This is because wypts such as BIG are considered too close. Nothing I think can be done about this as this originates from PF2000 which cannot be altered.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
June 10, 201114 yr Author Okai, seems logical. Too bad it doesn't support AIRAC or something, where it knows existing SID/STARS John doe
June 14, 201114 yr Author I have another questions about the taxiway system. How does it know? Does it work with addon airports? Many times ground tells me to taxi to rwy 36C. I arrive at 36C but nothing happens. I then have to manually connect to the tower, press 6 for t/o clearance.Btw I just tried this in a flight from EHAM-EGLL and 2nd time in a row on this flight PFE becomes unresponsive and I have to kill the process.Any ideas? (rename to .pln)Thanks John doe

(rename to .pln)ThanksYou need to look carefully at the afcad files. The rwy and taxyway info is transalted by makerwys.exe which is then interpretated by PFE. Always make sure makerwys is up to date. Any changes you make to rwy/taxiway configurations "must" be recorded by makerwys before PFE can use the information. Also make sure in you afcads that your route to the rwy does not include blank taxiways. If you are at a small airport then pressing 6 is what you have to do to get t/o clearance. You need to read the manuel carefully.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
June 15, 201114 yr You also need to be within 700 feet of a runway threshold to get ground control to hand you over to the tower automatically. If you try to hold at a runway entry point further than 700 feet then you need to switch frequency and contact the tower manually with the 6 key as mentioned above. Cheers, Andy.
June 15, 201114 yr Author Ye i did the makerwys but it didn't help much.Does it matter if you're at the wrong holding point? E.g. For 36c you can enter it on 3 different points.Problems is i don't understand what the taxi monitor is saying. "bear left"? etc. on a straight taxiway. I\d rather not use the gauge John doe

And yes, you have to be at the "correct" hold short point for things to happen automatically or contact manually if you want to use your own entry point... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
June 15, 201114 yr Even if you're not at the designated entry point, you can put in the tower frequency and press six. the tower will clear you from there.
