Because some of us think that the old formula of improving the simulation aspect of Flight Simulator has been replaced by a quest for the almighty dollar and Flight will be far more game than simulation.

Now you are just posting to post something. If you think you will like Flight in place of Flight Simulator 11, great. I am sure it will make you very happy that MS has made more kids happy and that they lived up to the American dream of short-term gain for long term extinction.

The goal of any business is the quest of the almighty dollar. Now, how to do that best can be up for debate, but the goal is not going to change. And all the half-empty folks said the same thing about FSX when they learned about Missions and animals in FSX, but yet FSX has become the best seller in the history of the FS franchise, yes even better than FS9. And then we can get into the differences between a "game" and "simulation" in another thread if you wish.

Bert,You win a copy of my FS4 for the Apple 2E because we know that was a true simulation and not a game, before MS started to water it down in order to make more kids happy. (Who later become young adults with disposable income for future games)

I don't understand your post ...I was responding to the comment that this new push for the dollar was gonna somehow ruin flight. The push for the dollar was always present for all additions of MSFS.

Yes, I am clear on the purpose of writing software for money. What is less clear is what MS will do in light of the fact that they have announced a need for a new direction. Clearly, what they have been doing all these years will change. Given what the industry trend has been with other franchises that have decided to appeal to more people, I expect the same: Nickel and dime DLCs, good looking screen shots that mask a lack of good game elements, likely an unfinished game that would need four or more patches and we'll get one or two over two years.

Your logic is ridiculous. You are speculating that a game not even in beta testing yet will be unfinished and need a bunch of patches based off of what ONE of 10 versions (FSX) needed in over 30 years. This really does not make any sense.
