Any news about v5?

Well said Bob. All that acrimony serves no purpose and ultimately can damage developers' morale. Posters really should understand that a customer base must be one in which developers can have faith, as well as the customers having faith in the developers. Kind regards,Dave

Dear JD and test team!I want to ask about the interaction of RC with AI. Wiil RC use appropriate callsign (from aircraft.cfg "atc_airline=" section and traffic bgl's. ) to use wav file.Example:step 1: RC reads aircraft.cfg "atc_airline=American Airlines"step 2: RC reads raffic bgl's to get flightnumberstep 3: RC uses appropriate wave files "AmericanAirlines.wav" and flight number (for example "zero.wav" "five.wav") for communication with AI aircraft ("AmericanAirlines zero five climb Flight level two five zero" ) It would be very nice.

It reads the airline and flight number from FSUIPC and forms the speech from that. It doesn't need to read Aircraft.cFG and Traffic BGL files -- it would be grossly inefficient and slow if it had to do that all the time, and it wouldn't work with dynamically generated traffic like that from UT2. FSUIPC supplies all the AI traffic data. RegardsPete

I am a big fan of Radar Contact, but is it too hard to post 10 lines update every 4-6 month ? seriously ?

It appears that it is. I use to wonder why Flight Simulator never got much mainstream support in the gaming community. Now I know why. No wonder it's dying off. I have lurked here and other places since 1997. I post every once and a while. I have been using Flight Simulator since 1985 on a commodore with a 5 1/4 floppy drive. I helped create a VA that has been around for 10 years now. I have seen people like Project Freeware Group disappear. Numerous designers that you never hear from anymore. I have made some contributions in the Freeware community. I have seen plenty of payware developers come and go over the years. What has been a shame is the relationship between some payware developers and people of this small community. Honesty what is so important that updates cannot be given? Every other video game out there does it? Look at the developers of other video game titles? They give regular press releases with screenshots. Microsoft is even doing it with Flight. It’s a shame that people get mad that the developers wont and express anger regarding it. It's also a shame that developers are condescending and give attitudes about it. If that is the way you want to run your business then that is your decision. I have and won't buy any PMDG add-on because of it. I didn't buy any PSS product because of the attitude given. It would be nice if FS payware developers would generate some excitement in the hobby other than an initial press release. It would be nice if FS payware developers would provide some routine updates on products and issue release dates like most every other game developer does. Maybe help grow the hobby instead of being condescending and cause somebody else to leave. That goes for both the user and developer

So, FSUIPC knows callsign and flight number for all AI? Could you give more explanation how it works? Iam big traffic fan and I really want to now will my custom traffic works with RC V5...

FSUIPC reads the data from FS and makes it available through its interface for applications. Providing data from FS is the prime purpose of FSUIPC. If you want more technical details of how it is provided please just download the FSUIPC SDK which contains all the documentation used by developers like JD. As with all my programs the SDK is available on the "Dowson" page from Enrico Schiratti, www.schiratti.com/dowson. Pete

Ok, I'll read it. But my question is still open. Will RC V5 generate appropriate callsign and flightnumber (getting information about AI from FSUIPC) for every AI aircraft?

How do we know, if V5 isn't done yet?

I think you are right, they are just waiting a special planet alignment to release it Whistle.gif

Why on Earth would it not include this when RC V4 does it? Are you thinking that all V4 facilities are going to be withdrawn? What even makes you ask such a question? It makes no sense to me! V5 would be intended to be an advance over V4, not a complete regression! Else what's the point? Pete

Because everybody else has a list of what will be implemented after two years of announcement....... Isn't it being beta tested????
